I live in Florida and I see these everywhere. There's one at the Orlando USTA branch, where my dad works, and I will occasionally hear it go off when I'm visiting him at work. My dad is a tennis director there, so he works with a few newbies who don't know what the sound means. Thankfully, he certainly knows! I also have a story to tell about these lightning alarms. I was volunteering at my stepmom's workplace in Fort Myers, and the lightning alarm went off. I stayed in the clubhouse doing some animations when I noticed an elderly couple preparing to swim in the pool. I raced out to the pool and told them there was a lightning warning in place, and that it wasn't safe to swim right now. They understood and left, which was good. My stepmom has an Earth Networks lightning alarm, not a ThorGuard like this one. They have the same tone patterns though. One 15 second blast for the red alert and three 5 second blasts for all clear. It's also fun to go there because sometimes, my stepmom will take me around the golf course to take pictures of the sirens. There might not be an outdoor warning system in Fort Myers, but it's still fun to see the Earth Networks sirens. I might post some pictures of them sometime.

I live in Florida they have them everywhere I love to hear then when they go off. Great things to have especially in south florida.

Turns out... These are being replaced with Pocket Perry Outdoor warning systems. it says on the Elk Grove Village website
