Same as kids movies: kids CANT go alone, therefore at LEAST one parent has to go, 2 parents if they are a couple. EASIEST 2x1, easy to moderate 3x1.

You know the saddest thing is from the reviews, several people have explained the structure and there was a total open shot for them to fix all of these problems, and showcase why both extremes are bad and how both worlds needed more equality. But nope, it's all "lol no, dudes are trash." Jeremy Jahns had the funniest take, paraphrasing "The message couldn't be more clear. But the ending throws that out the water when the Barbie president gives the Weird Barbie a place in her cabinet while the Kens get a miniscule amount of power and it is implied that they'll have to continue to fight for their rights to years to come and continue to be treated like trash (just like real women in the real world LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL)

I find humour in the irony of the Ken plot. You have someone disrespected and disregarded along the lines of sex, introduced to ideas about having self-respect, takes it too far, but the end point is not progress but reversion to the status quo, and that's framed as a good thing, if not the best thing. Reverse the sexes and femin-ists would screech b00ody murd3r.

At first I thought it was actually clever writing reversing the roles by showing feminism if men were the second class citizens, but no, I gave the feminist writer-director too much credit. @@lamargordon6017The Light Novel "The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs" applies this concept better, The MC steals the most powerful robot because his evil stepmother wants to marry him to a woman who will send him to die in a war to get money. The men eventually reach their limit and when a war happens, the men either desert the army or ally with the enemy. The MC ends up saving the day by exploiting the game mechanics and bribing other men with loot and very powerful gear. The Queen, already disgusted with the abuse she saw hits the last straw and revokes most of the privileges the women have in the name of an equal society, because if not for the MC and the two women interested in him (and in each other), her kingdom would be razed to the ground.

Well, for starters, the idea of role reversal means the Kens are in the position Gerwig thinks women hold in real life.... which leaves the Barbies in the positions of real world men they were supposedly given without earning. Oops. Did Doctor Barbie spend eight years and rack up thousands of dollars in debt at Barbie Medical School? Inquiring minds would like to know. And what the Hell do dolls need a doctor for anyway? What does she do all day?😋 Secondly, the movie ends with the Kens back in their roles of utter insignificance until they prove their worth. Exactly how is that any different to the roles men have _always_ held in real life? I've often pointed out how fitting it is that International Men's Day is on the same day as World Toilet Day; they both take $h!t from a$$holes endlessly and are only ever noticed when they stop working.😁

Every ounce of intelligence, cunning, and “genius” in this movie or its marketing is a deeply bad thing. After years of hateful sexism getting vomited at us in movies and shows of zero quality, they’re discovering that the messaging will be more effective if handled smart. If Palpatine taught us anything, it’s that subtle genius is the best way to work large-scale harm and hatred without getting stopped. It’s genuinely worrying that people will swallow this kind of thing. Remember back when the word “feminism” meant equality and not hating women? It really was *not* supposed to mean: Hate all men Hate all boys Hate family Hate equality Hate cooperation Hate all women that don’t agree It’s so similar to all the hatred and insanity about race. Equality and mutual respect are simple concepts. But instead you get a complex set of excuses for being hateful, so long as you hate the right people.

_Remember back when the word “feminism” meant equality and not hating women?_ Nope. _It really was not supposed to mean:_ _Hate all men_ _Hate all boys_ _Hate family_ _Hate equality_ _Hate cooperation_ _Hate all women that don’t agree_ Yes, it was. Feminism is not and never has been women's rights advocacy. It is an ideology with one central plank, lifted from socialism and applied to gender; androphobia. Men (the capitalists) always built societies solely to benefit themselves while women (the workers 🤣) were held in subjugation. You believe that horseradish, you can call yourself a feminist, but you can believe in equal rights and opportunities for women _without_ calling yourself a feminist just as you can believe in racial equality without calling yourself a Black Panther. 😁

At this point self-proclaimed "feminists" are no longer freedom fighters, but power-hungry a**holes who are every bit as bad as what they claim to be fighting against. For cultural vandalism alone, I condemn them, as it's directly, undisputedly their fault that it has been almost a decade since any good story is born. I guess Tolkien is right, they can't create--and, based on how much they hate motherhood, can't give birth to anything, flesh-and-blood or otherwise. Or is the outfit clearly related to Germany/Bavaria. You don't have those? The only thing that feels super odd to me is that Barbie is obviously wearing mans clothing. Not even in todays day and age will you see many women dressed in typical mans clothing if visiting the Oktoberfest. If people dress up for it (many go with their daily clothing) it's always the men wearing stuff like Barbie and Ken have on in the shot. Female visitors wear a 'Dirndl'. Which has variations that are the opposite of revealing, so I don't even get why they have chosen men's clothing for Barbie in this shot. PS: That thing about internationally being mixed up with Germany. I feel you, Bro. You might think, we don't have this problem but actually we do. Because the whole world thinks Germany is Bavaria. People were SO upset recounting times when she actually did something. Nintendo did make her a part of the movie and it worked. If I had made the movie I would've left Peach out of it entirely; as she's not essential to the story. She serves the same role as Ken. How come Peach HAS to be in a girl boss in a MARIO BROS movie to appease the left, but Ken is just an assessory in Barbie's movie and that's perfectly fine? If Barbie wants EQUALITY prove it. I feel like maybe if the movie wasn't sexist the tagline wouldn't have been bad. The assumption people got from Barbie and Ken's relationship is that they were a happy bimbo/himbo couple, that tagline could've fit with that. Maybe if the movie got rid of the Ken storyline and was about Barbie contending with her perception as an icon, while Ken is just happy to be himself (in a story where he's not a second class citizen in Barbieland-) and is just her happy supportive boyfriend tagging along for the ride, that could've also worked. But yeah, in hindsight, the tagline is super condescending and twisted.

I'm just in shock. As a Barbie fan since childhood, even in the source material of the cartoon series Barbie has more depth to her than just being pretty. She is the most honorable in personality than those around her so that's why every Barbie wants to be her best friend and a few different Barbie Ken's crush on Barbie. All of Barbie's friends have complex emotions of jealousy against Barbie or each other. They are in competition with Barbie but Barbie never feels those emotions. She's not just pretty but ambitious and a "pure" soul. Yes she has conflicts but she resolves everything in a honorable way. And she FALLS IN LOVE WITH KEN!!

As a child I was officially not allowed to have Barbie dolls. I say officially, because I got one when I was five as a birthday present and my parents new and I played with her. Perhaps it was more accurate to say I was discouraged from getting Barbie dolls or maybe that my parents weren’t going to get me any. This was, as far as I know, due to the fact that “if Barbie were real she would be less than skin and bones”. I got a Totally Hair Theresa at a garage sale when I was a young teen and a Star Trek Barbie and Ken when I was a little older, but basically, I never got into Barbie. What I did get obsessed with was Kelly. I have over eighty Kelly and friends and not one of those is from the Chelsea era. I have a lot of baby dolls and honestly the opening scene with the baby dolls being destroyed was enough to put me off this movie. I went to a movie recently, first one since last year, and they had a preview for Barbie with that scene. Congrats Barbie producers, you definitely told me don’t see this movie. Do I love Barbie? I see your points and i understand them, but i had a totally different experience and i will elaborate what i mean now: we see that in the "utopia" only the Barbies were important and the Kens were neglected all the time. Then we see Ken go to our world, discover patriarchy and entirely conquer their world, all of this in like 5 minutes. Barbie returns and we see everyone being happy, except the old Barbie who no one wants and calls weird. Then in the entire final act, we see them devising a plan, being manipulative and succeeding, but they couldn't even do it on their own. We then return to the first state, which was disappointing but all i saw in these scenes were how men were more capable than women, like 1 one was enough to topple down everything they ever had. Then the fact that they couldn't do it without being manipulative, which was a bit evil, imo. Barbie is absolutely incompetent and even the supposedly stupid Ken fares better than her. I think even the Kardashians could come up with a less shallow deeper message. At least they don't hate men. Hell even their... uh... Bruce/parental unit of sorts, likes men.😅

I’m not terribly surprised that Barbie’s a box-office success. I mean, they picked the right target audience for once. If you’re going to infuse a movie with feminist propaganda, then why not a movie who’s target audience is women? Add the clever trailer that promises that this film is nothing but a fun loving romp down nostalgia lane, and viola! Box office success! My buddy went to see this with his wife. Typically, he scoffs at my warnings about the messaging in modern movies, e. g. he liked Captain Marvel and his only comment was that Brie Larson’s “hot.” However, Barbie finally broke him. He walked out of the theater and abandoned his wife because he couldn’t take it, then sent me a text stating that I shouldn’t see this movie under any circumstances. On the other hand, his wife loved Barbie (and my friend landed in the dog house for abandoning her). Based on commentary I’ve seen elsewhere, I’d say that most audience members embraced the messaging, and/or were oblivious to it. So, yeah, what does that say about us as consumers? As for me, I’ve grown weary of being told that I’m useless, evil and/or stupid. I can’t imagine what it’s like for little boys who grow up in a world where they’re subjected to this kind of propaganda… but when the barbarians show up at the gate, I hope all these strong, independent women who need no man are ready to stand up against them.

Remember. Even in Barbie's little "plastic" world the Barbies' were STILL unable to stop the Ken uprising. Ken came back and conquered the whole Barbie world on a matter of days; maybe minutes. Ken showed that when men actually have a spine and don't SIMP the Barbies are absolutely useless at protecting their fake little world. That's why it's still called a DREAM house. Barbie can believe she's in charge all she wants and Ken allows her to rule, but he can easily take it over at the drop of a hat. "Feminism" does NOT equal protection. If we ran the world like Barbie we'd have no one to protect us. Ken couldn't do it either if he did fight in the name of Barbie. He-Man and G.I. Joe would mop the floor up with Ken.

I have a son and a husband, and I grew up with brothers. Seeing so many of these stupid feminist movies hate men just for existing is heartbreaking and frustrating. I LOVE the men in my life! I will forever defend my son and husband from the accusations that all men are just sexist morons who don't respect women. My son, husband, and brothers all respect women and just want the same sort of respect in return. If we were to reverse the genders in the movie, feminists would be seeing red for valid reasons. I don't see why feminists have to stoop down to the same level as the other sexists and misogynists out there. I'm a woman, and seeing movies hate the gender of half my family is sickening. The ending should have had everyone living better, not just everything going back to the stupid status-quo. I mean, isn't the whole point of a movie to change and grow and NOT end up in the same place as before? What's the point of the story if nothing changes?

They also seem to think all males are the upper class wealthy types. I don't even think they realize that their electricity, sewage treatment, garbage pick-up, and society itself are done by working class men. And without them their little lives would collapse. I asked elsewhere if Ryan Gosling was paid the same as Margot Robbie for his acting role, and if the _Barbie_ movie actually practiced what it preached about gender equity. No? Well, then I guess men will get paid more in the films where they are the bigger draw. I mean, if we as men want to see male co-stars in a female-led movie get paid equally, well, we have to stick to our guns and argue from a position of strength and power to make that happen. This movie taught us that at least, because it's seemingly okay to hold an entire group hostage for your own selfish gains, when you *feel* it's for a totally righteous and just cause.

While I understand that not all guys have treated women well in the past, it is tiring how this grievance machine keeps making us all look like irredeemable monsters. Not all of us are bad and I'm just tired of being thrown into a category that doesn't define me. At this rate, men will cease interacting with women and we will all die out as a species... Look, when you get whipped in the same spot every goddamn day, you develop callouses and the nerves for pain in the area get less sensitive. When it's the same thing continually, that no longer has impact anymore. Same deal here. When nearly every bit of USA made media from commercials to tv to films, comics and the news are misandrist? You either lose your mind (look at mental health rates) decide to leave (look at the self deletion rates) or simply become numb to it. Sure, this was a more nasty lashing than usual, but guess what? No one cares, because it's you being lashed, and you know that. You're the unwanted underclass doing the crap jobs with no right to even exist if you don't provide those 'above' you with utility. My understanding was that movie is "supposed" to show how THE REAL WORLD is for women by making Barbieland a perfect matriarchy with women occupying every position of power and every job and the Kens being 2nd class citizens. But.....women hold power, quite a lot of it, in our world. And I dare to ask, WHEN were women ever 2nd class citizens? This movie just goes over the top to beat "the message" into your skull. And then they pull the BS "The Kens will have JUST as much power in Barbieland as women have in the real world" line. The writers probably think they are so clever for getting that line in there. Women have plenty of power in the real world. maybe NOT AS MUCH as they would like, but I notice this movie doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that men occupy ALL THE BOTTOM RUNGS in this so-called patriarchy.
