Sad but true,csx should have kept these big girls on the roster! I hated to see them go!I fell in love with these beautiful girls! And I wished I had the money to have bought some of these rare classic diesels .

There is a short stretch that the Great Lake Central between M36 and Zukey Lake that I've wanted to catch a train run by. But being on the far south end of the line trains come by either too early or too late in the day to catch. Heading south they interchange with the Ann Arbor Railroad. A bit north they do some set outs and pickups with the CSX on the Plymouth sup at a crossing known as AnnAPere. Where that Ann Arbor and Toledo crossed the Pere Marquette.

I was referring to what the railroad track speed is listed as for that stretch of track you show in the video. I will have to ask a good friend that used to be an engineer in Grand Rapids for the C&O. He now is one of the three owners of the new Grand River Railway in Painesville, Ohio.

+Robert J. Karczewski 30mph until where the video starts, then 50 for freights until EE Hudsonville, 40 until WE Hudsonville, then 50 the rest of the way to Zeeland.

The actual track speed is 45 miles per hour.i know because, I used to work for csx,and we had speed recorders in every locomotive we operated. I can tell you this, the average speed on that stretch of track is 45 miles per hour!this is a fact! When we were on the line, we couldn't go no more than 45mph because of the condition of this line.we were limited to 45mph over this line.

I really miss thise ac60acs. Csx should have kept them. So sad to see them go.thet didn't know how good these big girls were until they got rid of them. And now, csx has a power shortage. This is what happens when you get rid of locomotives that you should have kept!now what you see is locomotives from other roads on csx! They are leasing units from the other lines.

What is the speed limit for Amtrak on that line? Amtrak likes to have a 79 mile per hour track speed if at all possible. Ringling Brothers trains are rated for passenger train speeds, at least in the 79 mph range. I don't know what they can run on the Northeast Corridor. Have you ever done a video when Ringling Brothers comes to Grand Rapids? You do an excellent job taking your videos, they are nice to watch with your excellent narration!

+Robert J. Karczewski Unless otherwise restricted by curve/town related speed restrictions, Amtrak runs at 60 along this line in Michigan. West of the state line between New Buffalo, Michigan City and Porter, they're good for 79, or at least they were in 2005. I have a couple RBBB trains on my channel. Use the search function on the channel page :)

When you are pacing a train, let us know what the track speed is!
@ThornappleRiverRailSeries
@ThornappleRiverRailSeries 8 жыл бұрын
+Robert J. Karczewski You can see the signs. 50, then Hudsonville is 40, then at the curve it goes back to 50. I'll never post actual speeds, it is important to keep that stuff off the webs because it could be inaccurate and be an indictment of the crew if not in line with the speed limits.

it's dirty true enough but it's a work unit CSX do have clean units I see them all the time at their Chicago Bedford park intermodal yard/hump the compartment door is all personal neglect I drive for JB HUNT and visit all class 1 yards in Chicago and CSX NS and BNSF are miles ahead of Canadian National railyards
@Nader620
@Nader620 8 жыл бұрын
+rokk706 Yeah? I sorted them out this way: KCS, BNSF and NS were cleanest; UP CP and CN less so; and CSX at the bottom of the list. It was suggested that the dirtiness was a northeast thing but this locomotive is in western Michigan. Not exactly northeast. It boils down to people being only as good as their leaders.

+Nader620 Remember locomotives travel the entire system, the 600 is just a western Michigan engine. Most Class Is don't wash power regularly. Cleanliness doesn't move freight.

+Thornapple River Rail Series Still, with such an attitude towards their equipment, one must wonder about their attitude towards costumers' freight. This is not the first example I've seen of CSX operating a junk heap. I would think a 'look of success' goes a long way in the business world.
@terrywallace4109
@terrywallace4109 2 жыл бұрын
That's beside the point!every one of these locomotives should be cleaned up and repainted no matter where they are!they need to clean all of them,and NOT IN CERTAIN AREAS! BUT EVERYWHERE! TO GET THE MOST OUT OF A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT,YOU MUST GIVE IT MAINTANCE,CLEANLINESS, AND KEEP IT PAINTED. THE APPEARENCE OF A LOCOMOTIVE TELLS YOU EVERYTHING ABOUT HOW MUCH THE RAILROADS CARE ABOUT THEIR EQUIPMENT. BUT AFTER LOOKING AT THESE UNITS, CSX HAS MADE A VERY POOR NAME FOR THEMSELVES. I KNOW OF ONLY A FEW RAILROADS THAT TAKE CARE OF THEIR EQUIPMENT BETTER THAN CSX. I HAVE SEEN RAILROADS THAT TAKE PRIDE IN THE APPEARANCE OF THEIR LOCOMOTIVES AND THEIR PUBLIC APPEARANCE, BECAUSE THEY HAVE WHAT CSX AND OTHER CLASS ONE ROADS DONT HAVE. AND THAT IS MAINTAINING THEIR EQUIPMENT.

What a ratty looking P.O.S. locomotive. A 20 year old AC4400CW. Once again I have to say that CSX looks like it has the least pride in appearance of all Class 1 railroads. Covered in soot and dirt, and flapping equipment doors in this example. Nothing to be proud of.

@spacecalander
@spacecalander 6 жыл бұрын
Reason is AC60CW has more tractive effort than a SD70ACe, and 100 more hp. Looks are the last thing they are worrying about lol, they are not show items. A 20 year old AC4400 which is not on this train has more pulling power than a SD70ACe, or a SD70MAC or a ES44C4. Number one locomotive used by UP for a reason.
