I've been watching your videos for about a month and I am always looking forward to your next review. After recently purchasing another pair of foreign made work boots, I've decided I need to have a few pairs of U.S. made boots in my closet. Thanks to this review I know what my first pair will be. I look forward to watching this channel grow as I'm sure it will. Thanks again.

Yo BootGuy - in my first month of having these Beloit boots in natural and could not be happier. Bought them on your recommendation. Hope you get some skim for pointing me to Thorogood! Peace

I have a pair coming in the mail soon! Couldn't find the Dodgeville anywhere, so went with Beloit. First pair of heritage boots and can't wait!

Boot guy I really enjoy your reviews and purchased a a few thorogood work boots that have worked out great! I have a pair of brown Benoit boots which I love. After 3 solid months they have quite a bit of character. I have been treating with Brooklyn wax and cleaning products as you have recommended as well (another great product). My question is now, is it ok to use brown shoe polish or should just continue with the natural wax? If it is ok what do you recommend? Look forward to your reply and please continue the good work!

I have these in CXL. Very good looking boot and comfortable-really like the cork sole. Not quite the support I get from my Aldens, but pretty close. My only knock is I wish they were lined or at least the tongue was thicker.

Beautiful boot, no doubt. Reminds me of my Red Wing 2948s I picked up and you reviewed. I gotta say, I am partial to that full Vibram sole, but overall, thats a beautiful boot.

Hi BootGuy, do you know the difference in sizing between the Tomahawk, Beloit and the Dodgeville. I was being told that the Dodgeville is slightly wider than the Tomahawk and the Beloit wider than the Dodgeville. Thanks!

Just got these on sale from Milworks in Milwaukee, WI. Sale price is $198 instead of $300. Amazingly comfortable. Ended up getting same size as I am in Red Wing Heritage #8 last (Iron Ranger, Blacksmith, Merchant, Rover, etc). It's technically slightly longer than the Red Wings, but because it has the super comfortable insole, it's a similar fit. The Horween CXL leather needs a hair dryer or a horsehair brush to restore the shine, but they are truly beautiful. Impeccable craftsmanship and much more comfortable than my Iron Rangers. Highly recommended, especially at the lower price point. Thanks to @thebootguy for the review, which is the only way I knew about them. My local Thorogood dealer only carries the work boots, not the 1892 line. Thorogood would sell a lot more of these if they had a functioning website. There are so few dealers that sell them, which is a shame as they are wonderful boots.

Hey man, maybe you can tell me. How much room do you have between your big toe and the end of the shoe? I just got these in black, and I've been really liking them. But being my first pair of boots like this I'm worrying constantly that I didn't get the right size
@BradleyHansonPhotography5 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael- Understandable. You don’t want your toe rubbing on the end of the boot, but you don’t want to be swimming in it, either. The main measure of boot fit, and how Red Wing salespeople typically fit customers, us to align the ball of your foot (where your big toe joint meets the foot) with the wide part of the boot. A cheap trick I invented to test is to buy a pair of $1 thin insoles from target and put them in your boots. After a few hours, you’ll see the imprint in the insole. This helps with boots that are too stiff to feel the big toe in. In Red Wings and these Thorogoods, I’m a 1/2 size down from my Brannock device measurement of about 12.2, wearing an 11.5 in these boots.
@BradleyHansonPhotography5 жыл бұрын
Michael Abballe I think I replied in the wrong spot. Short story: about a pinky width or more of room for the big toe. See my other reply re sizing tricks. Good luck with the boots!

Got myself a pair of these in Indigo colour. IME these are true to size, I bought a size 8US (I wear Red Wing boots in size 7.5US). The leather is something special, very easy to break these boots in. My Red Wing boots took a month at least. The supplied insole is great, very comfy. With laces (Pisgah Range) in maroon these boots look great. Overall finish could be better though. I found some glue residue here and there and somewhat poorly finished stitching. A bit disappointed to find that on boots in this price range. Try and inspect before you buy if possible. Would I buy another pair? Definitly!

Great review again! I love the Thorogood 1892 series. Just bought my second pair, the Portage CTX in black. My first pair is the Dodgeville in sunflower. I love that 60 last from Thorogood, it's perfect for me. There is no breaking in what so ever. Thats something else compared to the an other all American brand (wink). The Dodgeville's are getting a nice patina already. Really looking forward to some new models and/or colors...

Hi there, can you tell me something about the width of the Dodgeville? Is it wider than the Iron Ranger?
@ZappninLLP4 жыл бұрын
Just got a pair of natural color Beloit 1892 in 10.5 M size, on sale at a Nordstrom's Rack, $137. I normally wear a 10.5 W but the boots fit perfectly. I put on a very thick pair of socks, laced the boots up tight and found the boots very comfortable even while breaking in. I was going to get Red Wing Iron Rangers but just couldn't justify the price, plus even at the Red Wing store could not find a fit that felt right. These Thorogoods feel perfect.

Hey guys, I have a pair of Thorogood 1892 Portage (black chromexcel with cork nitrile). It took me about 1 month of wear to break them in. They now fit like a glove, and are actually very springy/quick stepping, not sluggish like the crepe sole shoes. Very different but dynamic. And the leather is really thick. Contrary to many, Chromexcel is not supposed to be conditioned with wax, and is changes the texture of the leather. Let the patina develop first, no rush to treat them. Once they start to look dull, brush them first. If they do not shine up, then use what I have researched as the best conditioner, Saphir Greasy Leather cream. It was made especially for chromexcel. They make neutral (white), black and brown. I have the neutral. Just as The Boot Guy says, wear them in first, then treat them. For anyone interested in the Wolverine 1000 miles, they look great as well, so get both!!

I just bought a pair of the 1892 Portage boots. Quite honestly, there really was no substantial break-in period, due mostly to that wonderful footbed they included! I’m a 10.5 D on the Brannock, and bought these in a 9.5.

Thanks for the review. I've had my Iron Rangers for a couple of months now and I have to admit your review is what caused me to buy them. The Thorogood Dodgevilles caught my eye after I had the IR for a while. I have added insoles to them after about a month and it was a good move. Much more user friendly. You were against this for the IR. But are ok with it for the Beloits?
@Florida_Boi_3216 жыл бұрын
willyb I had to do the same. I measured a 10D on brannock and had to get a 9.5 in IR because I have low volume feet. I HAD to use a Red Wing insole, it made the boots wearable.

Alright guys, I just bought the Beloit. I bought them a half size down. I got these in a size 9. At first when I put them on I realized I purchased the wrong size, way too tight. I forgot about the insole, removed it and now they fit perfect. On the iron rangers I'm a 9 as well. The red wing black harness moc toes I'm a 9.5. Just for reference. I purchased these of the milworks website.

awesome boots! but. this Nitrile Cork sole how reliable is it? because it doesnt look so.
@maxwellhouseranch10046 жыл бұрын
RedboRF The Nitrile Cork sole holds up really well. They are slick on wet surfaces, however they have a surprisingly great grip otherwise. Long life on this sole. It’s the same sole that the Redwing Iron Ranger had up until recently. I really like this sole for everyday wear.

Why does everybody say "Vie-brum"?? Its "Vee-brahm." You would think a guy who reviews boots with Vibram soles all the time would know how to pronounce the name.
@TheBootGuyreviews5 жыл бұрын
I just got off the phone with the guys from Vibram. They informed me both are correct. Something about the local dialect in some parts of France.
