There are good branded industrial bearings out there such as SKF or NMB from Japan. They are high quality and relatively inexpensive. Since Victor mentioned the roll resistance of all are about the same. The high cost of so called name brand bearings for skates aren’t justifiable. The industrial bearings with plastic shields 608RS type, you can take out the shield and clean the bearings more easily. You may want to experiment soaking these industrial bearings in thinner to remove the grease first and then soak them in car engine oil to lube the bearings. My friends and myself find this method work well. Some of the lubricants out there are too fluid and lose the smooth spinning property after a short while.

NTN 608 LLB is probably the best in terms of quality out there, LLU series for more resitance against weather & grime. @Mystic Gamerz SKF 608 RZ works great. Only downside i can think of when using industrial grade bearings is that more often then not they won't have 16 in stock when it comes to 608's.

The chipest bearings I ever bought were ceramics... that might seem surprising as I paid them almost 200€. But I have them since 2012... and look and roll as new. I did the math : when I had steel bearings I had to change them frequently, they would have been much more expensive. The rain is the worst enemy of steel. I had bought 45€ bearings, at the first time out I skated on a single puddle and they were already squeaking. An other time I was doing a road trip by skates. My bearings were new, after skating 2 weeks of which 1 of rain, they were totally destroyed and were extremely loose. The ceramic ones beared worst without any problem and after 8 years including heavy rain, they are still as new

Ceramic are worse because of the different density between the races and ball bearings the bearings actually wear out quicker. You must have been using the cheapest steel bearings instead of something like bones reds because steel bearings are still the longest lasting and best value. Decent video, but wrong about the bearing covers. Those red covers are rubber seals, which are also used on good bearings, to make servicing them easy (great if you're using speed oil and need to service them frequently). 608 ZZ are non-serviceable and is typical for cheapo bearings on cheap skates. But either serviceable or non-serviceable are used on both high end and low end bearings. The reason the China bearing have rubber seals is because they are imitating Bones Reds bearings.

It should be possible to buy more than 10 sets of no-name bearings for the price of a single set. Once that's said, I would still go for some of the "known" brands. They're approved, tested and thus way more reliable. My personal experience says that you might end up with 15-bearings sets or have them fall to pieces that first time you're taking them out of your wheels :)
