I grew up on the Lightning 608s back in the 90s. As an adult I last had Powerslide Next skates which were great and I could regularly reach speeds between 55kph - 65kph. (I have since discovered reaching those speeds on ice is not quite the same lol) My biggest frustration with the Powerslides was they took a half hour to take on and off - and I could never get them tight enough (like a ski boot) So hearing that the new Lightnings are fast and easy to take on and off is intriguing and I will consider them when I get back into urban skating again. Thank you for the review

Glad the PS Next worked out for you. I really wanted to like them but they killed my feet. It's the most painful and uncomfortable skate I've worn. Even upsizing didn't help and at that point they ran way too big.

I got my Lightning 80s about six weeks ago and love them! Upgraded from a six year old pair of Zetras that I mostly used for indoor rinks. Since then I've done many miles on biking trails. Once I got used to the hard boot they became so comfortable! And the memory buckles are brilliant; once they're on I don't even have to think about them. Yesterday I went to NYC and did eighteen miles on the riverside trails, midtown streets and even Central Park! Next I plan to get a set of 3wd frames and 100mm wheels for the long distance workouts.

I've had mine for a month or two now and they've really helped motivate me to get out and skate! I have the 90's and have been enjoying them to learn some basic wizarding techniques.

in comparing with the twister series, which one is better?

I got these they are great. But the FR Neo series is looking absolutely amazing too. My only downside for these skates is that there is only 1 mounting option for frames. You can't allign them in length back and forth.

Thinking about buying these can you elaborate on what you mean you can't align them and only one mount option

@@jero184 sorry for the late response. there is 3 holes on each mounting block on the bottom of the boot, but only the middle hole on each mounting block is threaded. So you can only mount a frame in 1 position. Meaning you can not allign frames from front to back. it's not a big issue in my opinion, because most frames fit fine on it anyway (i put 3x 110mm frames on my Lightning 90)

If i compare those LIGHTNINGs with Twister XT, then those new ones looks cheap with less features :-( but maybe i am wrong .

This was my initial thoughts as well. They look like entry level budget skates

They are simplistic in a good way. Very lightweight and efficiently built, very comfy, good support, memory buckles are great, wheels and frames are great. Basically just an amazing value skate. However i wish there were more mounting holes on the bottom of the boot for frame allignment.

Sure. I guess that The lightning is a middle level roller. it s not build to compèt against Twister. Not thé same product range. It s design to compèt against FR entry level range.

twister XT are more freeskate/slalom oriented and i guess more solid ( frame ) when u need to handle pavements/stairs/jumps, the price is not the same too i guess.
