SOTN - All Saturn Exclusive Stages in HD

Cursed Prison: 00:10
Underground Garden: 02:29
Soul Prison: 05:51
Hell Garden: 08:39
Maria fight: 12:16
I couldn't find any good HD footage of these rare stages, so I made this recording. In my opinion, Konami should have included these stages in all the SOTN re-releases, I want to explore as much of the castle as possible. And the new music is great too! What do you think, do these stages make the game better or worse?

Nice to see this in HD! I really wish there was a definitive version of this game with EVERYTHING included and no changes to the characters so they play as originally intended.

The whole vibe in these areas is just so different from the rest of the game But the underground garden soundtrack is just too damn good

Underground Garden's music is from the Castlevania's first stage on NES. Vampire Killer is the song's name.

I'm glad to have my Xbox 360 to play SOTN. My PS1 doesn't read disks anymore. Just wish all consoles had the same content and secrets.

Konami should release a remaster of this version to consoles. They already have the game done, so I believe would be easy somehow. This is the best version to me.

Konami doesnt care about their games anymore at all. All pachinko now. Even with the success of the netflix castlevania, you wouldthink they would release a game

They weren't cut off. They are part of Sega Saturn Exclusive content. As for the sprites looking weird, it's because Konami put another team in charge of this port which came after the Ps1 release of the game

Three areas, multiple items, holder function, new bosses, bgm, Richter’s alt costume, Maria playable(very different than psp ver.) and selectable from the start were new content added to the saturn version. But it’s a pity they never got to polish the saturn version, brainwashed Maria boss fight was cut(or rather changed to her testing how strong Alucard is. This fight is different in the psp version), and this OP version of Maria is not playable in any other version of sotn.

Maybe one day we'll get an ultimate version that has the content from the Saturn game combined with the PS1 game. Seeing how the Saturn version is also missing rooms from the PS1 version.

The theory is because it wasn't developed by IGA's team but some B-team at Konami

Requiem was a lazy port of rondo and sotn that was included in chronicles x on the psp. It’s funny in requiem sotn you cant button map L2 and R2 cause the psp doesn’t have those buttons.

I really wished the psp definitive version had these stages.. shame there were people that hates these stages, honestly they could've made these as optional and not for a 200% completion ..

I personally don’t care for them. They don’t seem to add much to the game other than map spaces to fill. The boss was very generic, but I can understand that many people want extra content.

Cool 😎👍 when i finish sotn inverted world on my psp all there was left to do was get the rest of items, sometimes i would wish there were more new areas i could go to then i heard bout the sega saturn version and now i get to watch it on youtube 👍

What cape are you using that it’s cycling through colors? I remember Joseph’s Cloak but you had to go into the menu to change its color.

The Saturn famously had an issue with transparency effects. Some developers got around it by being clever with layers but others didn't bother, I guess Konami being the latter category.

Doesn't this version of the game have an item that lets you sprint, or something like that? Also I remember Maria being SUPER overpowered

Yes, the sprint ability is there, pretty useful in the reverse castle. Maria is a very frustrating boss, basically invinsible with her magic shield...i don't have any solid strat, just blind fury like in the video, took about 10 tries at least

@@DavidWesterlund Actually, I was referring to the playable version. Although the boss is a pain too. I played this version years ago via an emulator but never finished it because it was Japanese-only (and was before I had already played through SotN like 100 times)

Aha, actually I haven't tried a Maria playthrough on Saturn yet, although I have beaten the ps4 and psp version as her which was pretty rough.

@@DavidWesterlund Yeah, she plays completely differently on the PSP/PS4 version. On Saturn she has a crazy moveset like triple jump, a flying jump kick, all kinds of spells, and she moves really fast. It's insane, I recommend checking it out just for fun

Wow! You mean like all the 2 additional areas? This port is laggy, artwork is weirdly scaled, animation frames and effects are missing, but we got at least 4 additional rooms to play around 😅

Yes, it's pretty annoying. Rumour has it that IGA doesn't like those extra areas or enemies as they were added by the B-team as sort of 'free dlc' for saturn owners to compensate for the delayed release

To be honest, new enemies look extremely whacky. I really like the classic youkai jimmenju enemy, but this design doesn't fit Castlevania at all.

Honestly, those stages look bland and clash with the rest of the game. The Underground Garden feels like a beta version of the much better Floating Garden from Aria of Sorrow and Garden of madness from Dawn of Sorrow. If we're talking about a "Definitive Version", that title goes to the PSP version.
