Author Pierre Brissot joins us to discuss his book and share his insights into iron's impact on the history of the universe and life on earth, including human health and well-being.
Pierre Brissot is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the University of Rennes (France). Former head of the liver disease department, his clinical, teaching and research activities have focused on the understanding and management of diseases related to iron metabolism disorders. An international expert in this field, he has served as President of the International Bio-Iron Society and has received the prestigious Marcel Simon award for his contributions in the field of a genetic iron overload disease called hemochromatosis. He has initiated the creation of several national and international patient associations to promote the knowledge and management of iron overload diseases. Pierre Brissot is a full member of the French National Academy of Medicine.
