Random thoughts on my almost 1.5 year old V1 master after 2150 miles, a half dozen different suspension mods, and now 100mm of suspension travel.

Clear fairing looks nice...

Thanks for the video. As of more recent updates, Hou Ning says he's making sliders to enable 130mm travel. I'm looking forward to that.

Nice job. I also designed custom linkages for begode wheels, same CC DB IL, and you're spot on regarding the pivot point and what's practical on the wheel. Try a progressive spring or an air shock, which has natural progression.

I was originally using a 550-670 cane creek progressive, but found that the weight was too light. That prompted me to use the sprindex which is also progressive at the last 20% of the stroke, but despite it being 750, the linkage I build is probably better off suited for a 800 or 850 progressive. Unfortunately nothing of the sort exists on the market right now :(

Been tempted to try modding my suspension to 100mm as well - Did you find clearence issues with the stock pedal hangars? or had you already replaced them with the adjustable ones from the Master pro? The newer masters come with a shock designed for 100mm that preloads the shock :/ - There are coil shocks that are just about loose enough to still fit without preloading the coil (and it completely screws air shocks), but then you still need the stiff spring, as I'm finding. Are the EX30 tubes a drop-in replacement? The alternative for me is to get my own 30mm tube and drill it, though I don't really have great hardware for that.

The issue with going with the stock hangars is that the extra travel just means the pedals sink lower during full compression. Whether or not that is a big issue depends on the terrain you like to ride. Personally I did not want the top of the wheel riding up any higher on my knee so the raised pedals were very nice. That said, the cutout slot on the master pro hangars is thinner than the cutout on the ex30 suspension rods so there ends up being a gap if you’re using the correct size aluminum plate to fit the master pro hangers. This eventually caused the rods to crack and I had to replace them. I ended up buying ex30 compatible raised pedal hangers from hou ningning to fix this. I am using the ex30 tubes as a drop in replacement, but I think going with the master’s style of solid bar without any cutout would be a more durable option. Regardless, there is some level of fabrication needed with either setup as you will need to make your own lower battery bracket.

I'm not using anything particularly special for my farings, here's a few links to where you can get the models. www.thingiverse.com/thing:5453902 cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/begode-master-battery-bumpers
