Waste Management - G.I. Industries services the City of Thousand Oaks. Here are five garbage trucks that work in the city:
(0:00) - 101498: This is one truck I've been longing to see for ages. The past videos of this driver have really entertained me, so I was really glad to finally find one of these old MR/Octos. Unfortunately, it looks like this truck in particular is starting to age. Notice how the arm goes over the bend slower; that’s not done intentionally. Either way, the hard revving really makes up for that. Plus, the super cool driver, Federico, made it a great experience.
(1:55) - 101467: This is a fun truck. I love the way WM/GI runs their LNG Macks, and this one is no exception. Antonio's a great driver and his operating style was tons of fun. Definitely plan to film more of him next time I'm out in the area. Hope you like the video Antonio! Oddly enough, there were a decent amount of Consolidated Disposal Rehrigs out in Thousand Oaks.
(4:08) - 102811: I first saw this truck last year (literally one day away from being one year since my tour of GI Industries), and I was pretty shocked to see a Diesel Mack in this day in age. In case you didn't know, Macks are pretty notorious when it comes to California Emission Laws. Seeing one in 2015 was shocking considering the number of new trucks WM has bought in SoCal over the past few months. Ironically GI didn't receive a single one...yet. Anyway, here's Nacho collecting the recycling in a nice little HOA. Really friendly guy who loved being filmed and helped provide us with information on other trucks.
(7:18) - 101022: Here is the last truck we found on route. I've been hoping to find one of these old ex-Blue Barrel Disposal Amreps and I'm glad we were able to find one on route. This truck originally worked in Oak Park until that driver got a new Amrep. Now, Juan uses it in the beautiful hills of the city where a CNG truck would not be as efficient. The previous driver didn't rev, so I'm glad I got to see this truck with a faster guy behind the wheel. This is one of two Diesel Volvos that works in the city, the other being 101037.
(14:00) - 632276: Here is the bulk truck for Thousand Oaks.
Unfortunately, we got rained out, so we cut the hunt short. I think we did great considering six out of the eleven trucks we wanted to find were either out of service or broken down.
Huge thanks to all the employees of Waste Management - G.I. Industries for keeping the city of Thousand Oaks clean for over 40 years!
Another big thank you goes to Kevin for driving me around all day! Another successful, fun and memorable filming trip thanks to you!
