Waste Management - G.I. Industries runs most of their older garbage trucks in the City of Thousand Oaks. Over the past year, I’ve taken many trips out to the area to see their awesome drivers and fast trucks in action. These are some of my favorite trucks out there to film so it never gets boring watching these old Amreps run.
(0:00) - 101466: We start out with Gerry Medina quickly finishing up his Friday route. He's one awesome driver who really puts on a show in his truck. Since Mack Amreps are just about my favorite trucks around, it's always fun to see them moving at a good speed. Would have liked to get more but he finished his few streets very quick. Gerry told us some great stories of how he used to move back when he had the Rail Arm Amrep. He loved that little truck and wishes he still had it!
(5:41) - 101511: Gerry told us Jose Ramos was working pretty close by to where he finished, so we quickly headed over there to grab a few clips. Very fast truck and the coat of paint looks really nice. 101511 is one of three MR/Amreps at GI, and was in the old blue colors for many years. I’m glad the paint still looks good after all these years.
(7:07) - 101334: Nacho's truck was down for the day so he had this. Caught him as he was picking up his last few houses unfortunately. He might be receiving a brand new "Think Green, Think Clean" garbage truck soon unfortunately as GI just received a new 520/Amrep ASL.
(7:22) - 101609: Another truck we barely missed finishing up for the day. Jose typically has 101467 which you will see later in the video.
(7:28) - 101584: On a trip to GI in March, Alex and I found Ramon in this truck on a Monday morning. GI washes all their trucks over the weekend so Ramon's truck looked amazing with the tires polished and rims all clean. I really liked how the truck looked - it has all the specs I like on a Mack LE: folded up door with a WM logo on it, clean rims, and polished tires. Ramon operated at a good speed and this was my first time seeing an old GI Roto for green waste, so that was neat.
(11:08) - 101037: Filmed Alvaro in the old 101037 back in December. He's another very fast driver who revved very well and manual packed in between houses. Soon after this was filmed, GI sent this truck up to Santa Maria as they were short on trucks. This was filmed during the rainy season so that’s why the truck was extremely dirty.
(11:17) - 632276: Quick glimpse of Santiago in one of the Lift Gates. He's the bulk driver for Thousand Oaks and uses this truck to collect as well as deliver carts.
(12:27) - 101495: Gerardo finishing up route on the Friday route last July. Nowadays, 101495 is a great looking truck and has some lug nut covers on it. I hope to see it again in the near future.
(12:49) - 101467: Here's Jose in his usual truck. Really like the sound of this truck and Jose revs it very nicely. The old driver of this truck quit apparently, so Jose took over the route and truck. Definitely glad he moves at a great speed.
Thanks to all the awesome WM drivers for letting us film and thanks to Kevin and Alex for tagging along on these trips!
