Thousands of people took to the streets of Brooklyn, NYC, on Saturday to start off a week of actions commemorating the Nakba. Middle East Eye's senior reporter Azad Essa spoke to protesters who said the police had become increasingly violent during the demonstrations.

What you have not noticed is your opportunistic-and certainly, a misplaced reading of the question of Consent Chomsky raises. He was referring to an absent consent over the genocide in Vietnam. Hence, there was a need for the ruling class to employ the Media to manufacture one. In contrast, in the case of the genocide in Palestine the only consent is needed is the basic moral instinct emanating from people inhabiting this universe. You are in a band that is playing a different tune. Quit the band and try to manufacture a consent over your own tune.

I spent part of my childhood growing up in Cypress Hills and have family members who are cops and retired cops. Blame the politicians -- the mayor and governor of NY are disgraces and the voters gotta vote. That's the most effective way to fix this problem. The cops need modernised community training but all this has to be authorised from the level of mayor and governor. I want the protestors and police to keep safe and importantly, I want our Constitution to keep safe. We took an oath to defend it -- and the First Amendment is vital for us. There's be no 2nd, 3rd, 4th whatever amendment if it weren't for the 1st. Protect our American rights and vote out the politicians who are corrupt!!

Laws need to be changed. When cops unjustly use force it should be legal for The People to use equal or greater force to protect themselves. Got to protect the rights. @@Silc_0 B4 48 it was the British Mandate of Palestine, that was a mandate not a country. There have been many such mandates in history, none of them were countries. B4 that Ottoman, Mamluk, and so on. As for the mandate years, the Arabs started the violence, not the Jews, and prior to 47 the mufti of Jerusalem was hanging out with his german bff trying to figure out how to bring the same thing to the Levant. The "event" in Hebron in 29, was also similar in nature to the 7th, just smaller in scale, and that's but one example of many, long before any so called "occupation". And finally, if Israel's goals for the Arabs were as you say, they are doing a really shytee job of it.
