When you put it into perspective, 20-30% of even £4 is like 80-£1.20 that’s really not a lot. I always tip riders as it’s not an easy job so mad respect.

I’m in a union that’s currently striking (even though my particular area isn’t striking) and when I saw your headline I really hoped you weren’t taking advantage of the situation. Dont know why I was worried though, you’ve already showed your integrity over that last debacle over the other London based delivery driver which you’ve come out on top of. The thing with these apps though. They will give you more payout, but they will increase there fees. delivery fee, service fee, commission fee. So the drivers will be paid more, the company still gets paid the same (which is a lot) and the customer is paying 25 dollars for a bagel. I support it, but the big companies need to know their limit in fees while supporting their drivers.

This Strike was really annoying for me as I was doing orders, bear in mind I didn't know about the strike or anything, a fellow driver told me it was on Facebook but I don't even use that. I was doing orders like Normal and there are drivers all physically grabbing me and went I got out of the shop(I didn't collect the order) one of those drivers decided to let the air out my tyres. Had to be reported to police..

That's just wrong, these guys want to be treated like real employees and have all the rights and pay yet behave like goons. They'll be the same ones eating customers orders and waiting around doing loops with 4 orders on 10 different accounts. Just scummy, should try making a real picket line and gain workers allegiance. No matter their circumstances someone else will have mouths to feed and roofs to keep above them.

Those suggesting that anyone striking should just leave the company if they don't like it. It isn't the 1960's anymore when you could walk out of one job and start a new one across the road 10 mins later. There's hardly an abundance of jobs and a lot of those riders have to do that as a 2nd job just to make ends meet. The reason these companies don't want to pay the riders more is because it means the shareholders get less money. Exactly the same reason why dozens of other industries are all going down the toilet recently too....

I've always treated delivery Riders well but after working for a company and doing delivery (not food) my respect for them sky rocketed even though it's a sick job and fun to meet some nice people but man it can be very frustrating

Would be really interesting to know the proper split between the delivery platform, the driver and restaurant. I know deliveroo charge most restaurants 35% of the order, ubereats is usually 30% and just eat 25% (where we are anyway) but they also charge their customers extra fees.

So we pay £1,300 fast food delivery insurance a year minimum £1,500 a year in fuel, £1,200 motorcycle servicing before we even make a wage. A lot of us work hard and are the face of the company that people see daily around town.

The low payouts weren't an issue until the Government required riders earnings to be shared with HMRC. Its a welcome to the real world for most riders.

when drivers go on their shift and eat someones order i wonder if they get a corner shop order they could steal that. say they could be delivering a bottle of champagne for example and keep that or could keep refridgerated items and non perishable goods and keep them and ive ordered corner shop food it was very expensive but ive never had a driver eat or steal my food but it made me think. I only use just eat and they are brilliant besides having cold big macs i just stick them in the microwave anyway.

Over in the States they make what seems like close to double what the UK does on average and that's taking the exchange rate into consideration. Plus tips are more a way of life over there than they are here.

Why though? I'm on Deliveroo and Just Eat and I can make at least £18 an hour even on weekdays. £25+ on weekends! Why are people striking the pay is incredible! I use an ebike also! Cheap running costs and no insurance.

Yesterday I saw the "smart one", running with his around £20 worth kebab bags, down the street towards his home, but it was a windy time, and the wind suddenly blew out of his hands all his carriage. The guy went out of his mind seeing his kebabs dinner, laying in the middle of the street, and the cars passin over it. He was screaming as he has just has lost his child. 😂 The moral of the story is - if you had ordered it on UBER or Deliveroo, it wouldn't have happened guys.

Talking about the strike, I agree with it. 3 4 quid a trip is a joke should be £5 minimum it really should. I don't agree with alot of the riders some don't help themselves not using the right bags and then they fount a shitload of workers who shouldn't of been even working in the UK or have the right insurance or anything ....

I agree drivers should be paid fairly, but as the user already pays higher prices for food from restaurants than they would if they went into the place, its already a pretty expensive thing to do. Restaurants should not be able to charge more for their items to pay the delivery service - It isn't transparent. There has to be a happy medium so everyone gets paid and the user gets good food and good service. The user pays more and more whilst service gets worse. We wait longer, get cold or substandard food and when you report it you get a message telling you they will look into it and never bother. At this stage, I'm on the verge of closing my accounts. If prices go up higher, that will be it.

You should probably upload short videos that you put on Instagram onto KZfaq shorts. Obviously do whatever you want but I personally don't use Instagram, never have, never will. The website is absolute crap on the web browser. It doesn't/didn't let you look at videos or posts without owning an account. I looked a few years ago at something unrelated and it just blocks you from scrolling or clicking on anything. You could see the first nine pictures but other than that you can't do anything.

hope you understand that rate increase will fall entirely on the consumers and they will just order less and your total earnings will end up where it started. also, it is not like you don't have any market forces to correct the riders' rates. High demand - increased rates, low demand/too many riders - less orders/less earnings.

@joebloggs575 nope that's incorrect, the only change now is hmrc have instructed the companies to report the earnings of the users each year, hmrc will match that to the self assessments that are submitted to see if anyone is dodgy and not paying tax
