Dal tovve is a very simple and common dish prepared. Main ingredient used is Toor Dal. Tomato is optional, but we usually add tomato, which enhances it's taste. Lentils are rich source of protein, so intake of lentils like Toor Dal is good for health. And when comes to the preparation, of course very simple, if you soak the Toor Dal, it Cooks faster. We can say it is a bigginner's recipe and even bachelors can easily prepare it. Process is just cook the Toor Dal, add chopped tomato, green chillies, ginger etc. And finally chopped coriander leaves. The tovve is ready. It can be best combination with white rice or chapati and Mangalore buns too. It's consistency requires to be thicker in case of chapati and buns. You can also add sambar powder to enhance it's taste. But in this video the traditional method of preparing tovve is presented without sambar powder.
Ingredients
Thoor dal 1cup
Turmeric powder 1/2sp
Coconut oil 5-6tsp
Tomatoes 4
Ginger small piece
Green chillies 2
Few coriander leaves
Lemon juice 2sp
Salt to taste
Small piece of jaggery
For tempering
Coconut oil 2sp
Mustard seeds
dry red chillies
Curry leaves
Hing

v prepare it many times in goa exactly as u shown mr bhat.since i also can cook,i have done this urad daal recipe which v in goa called "daal cho ros" alongwith rice ,and shallow fried potato chips which v call batat fodi.i served this to my family so many times. just love this food,its simplicity and aroma of urad daal when cooked ,till it reduces just like u told in video to increase d taste.
