Hi, I saw your video for a second time. I love your views on different armies & it helps me a lot/gives me a lot of information! :) I've question regarding the Mirkwood Rangers. Is there any way to tell the developers that they are too expensive? (Not competitive in any way). I would love to see them cost 2-3points less, or get something extra. Great episode, as ever. I think that Thranduril's Halls might be the only faction that I haven't played against, but it sounds very strong. I have a 600pts list for you to review, with a Pelennor Fields theme. I haven't played it yet, but I'd like to bring it to an event soon. Suladan with armoured horse (Leader) 6 Serpent Riders 12 Haradrim Warriors (6 with bows, 3 with bows and spears, 3 with spears) Witchking with FB and Crown, 3/12/3 4 Black Numenoreans 12 Morannon Orcs (6 with shields, 3 with shields and spears, 3 with spears) 600pts - 36 models, 6 Might, 9 bows. Serpent Horde and Mordor green alliance. It's primarily a thematic list, but I think that it also has the potential to be competitive, and I'd appreciate your thoughts on that. I suspect that you guys would prefer the Shadowlord, but I'd like to keep the Witchking if possible.

We had a guy from our gaming group bring an all Mirkwood Ranger force led by Legolas, Tauriel, and a Mirkwood Captain. He did pretty well in our tournament, but they get into trouble when they fight spear-supporting models (since you can get 2 dice fighting the Ranger's 1 die). They also don't have banner support or spear support, so I think there's a place for a few to guard your flanks (where your opponent usually tries to double-up models).

Thanks for this review, I absolutely love the Thrandruil on his elk model but the large base is what kills it for me, he just gets swamped. I think it's a shame the rangers are still so expensive as I think they are the nicest models GW has made. Deffinetly agree iron hills should be ally of convince with a LL! Thanks again everyone! Team thranduil on foot

Hey guys it's Louis from germany, love the podcast, even comes more unexpected than I do 💩 kidding, here's my dirty 750p list: moria/angmar - Dwimmerlaik on armoured fell beast 14 orcs with shield 1 specter ghost - Angmar shamane 3 orcs with shield 1 orc - Buhrdur - Durburz 2 bat swarms 13 gobbos with spear - Blackshield shamane 5 gobbos with spear ---> 750p, 43 models, 7 might, 2 strikes. Idea: having the nerf abilities of moria and angmar, combined with some mass and hitting power. Dwimmerlaik kann drain some will of heroes when they need to resist spells + dwimmerlaiks passive, then wither and shatter weakens them, untill then he can kill troups. Dwimmerlaik on fell beast in combo with bat swarm forces heroes to strike while forcing them to use up more might too. Orks and gobbos bring the mass, buhrdur draws some attention from the fell beast. Was really just having the picture of a S3 ellessar/gil galad with no weapon^^ Could replace buhrdur and the naked orc for cave troll with hammer and a gobbo captn for the march or cave troll with hammer and 3 warg riders for mobility/objectives. I am new to the game, would love to hear your thoughts in the next episode:)

It is possible to charge three models - usually it involves them charging you, losing, backing away in the same direction, not dying, then you charge them again on the following turn. :)

Would there be a better place for the Mirkwood Elf Captain if he could take a bow for 5pts (besides Thranduil, there are no heroes with Elf bows above D5 in this list)? Or would he need to be able to take a horse?

Dice odds do not apply to Thranduil's shooting, the Balrog's whip, or Thror's Fate saves. :)

Is there a case for running Thranduil with heavy armor and a bow (115pts) in order to get a cheap archer hero who can lead 18 troops? He's on-par for cost with Legolas on horse with Orcrist (and you can get both of them for 230pts) - and probably have room for 1-2 Palace Guard Captains with shields for melee damage and March (310-390pts total).

Fast forward to nova 2023, where Mirkwood rangers LL goes top 10. (I know, the LL wasn’t around back then)

I love this video! I bought Thranduil's hall 2 weeks ago. (Together with a iron hills warband, dain ironfoot king under the mountain & Thorin III stonehelm) I would take Tauriel over Legolas on a horse personally. Personally, I like to have 1 warband with 6-12 rangers on higher points. I really love the elven cloak, because a lot of enemy have some ranged units. If you're on a horse, you're quite squishy. The hitting on a 2+ is really nice, but it's only one strength 3 hit though for a 105point model. If you use the 3 shots, tauriel isn't much worse. Because for the same points, you can take tauriel + 1 ranger, which make you have 2 shots. The 1 ranger & tauriel are also more deadly in my opinion. Legolas on a horse is heavily depending on his charge. Tauriel has heroic strike strength 6 & 3 attack. Additionaly you often get outnumbered. So with her special rules, it's possible to get 4-5 attack, which makes her extremely deadly. As a third, I would also take a captain or an erebor reclaimed hero. (For 10 points more as the palace guard captain you can get Gloin. Yes, you lose the heroic march but you get heroic strike, same fight, same strenght but +1 to wound, 1 more defence, 1 more attack & one more might). Also, sometimes I take a few palace guard with shields & spears. If you go two lines, palace guard with shields & spears & mirkwood armoured elves with shields on front is more cost effective as palce guards with sihelds & mirkwoord armoured alves with glaives. You pay the same, but you get +1defence. Now the reason that I take a few palace guards is because they are fight 6 near thranduil, which is insane for 14 points. They are overpriced if not near thranduil, but near him, they can be a real threat to enemy heroes.

Thranduil is great on foot and I always see him as a person needing to be around his troops, since the +1 to wound, bigger Base can ofc result in to a bigger area coverage, on mount he dont give cav enemies bigger bonus and as you said, he is squishy so knock him down is bad news, also additonal wound for horse or 2 for elk, for shooting. He is probably a hero where position is vital every fight. So there is pros and cons for having cav upgrade, he is one of those heroes Who likes to dismount.

Rangers are not great for price but is theme fun to run a Leglos and Tauriel and lie 20 rangers at 500pts

First Arwen has wrath of bruinen not nature's wrath two I've used Arwen with devastating results specifically in infantry charges I agree that she should get rid of her Asfaloth so I think she isn't the best model but she's highly underrated
