Hi!
Today, the material is about repairing a bicycle frame with rivet nuts.
A common problem when it comes to bicycle threads is loosening of the thread for accessories. Such a screw then spins endlessly with the old rivet nut and makes it impossible to remove or install a new bottle cage, etc.
At the outset, I would like to point out that this is a material for EVERYONE, not only service technicians, because the cost of the riveting tool (about PLN 80) means that you will leave similar money in service for a one-time removal of the rivet nut, and with my help and purchase of a rivet nut tool for your own use, you will repair such threads themselves and maybe even Your friends :)
P.S. I know that you can knead the rivet nut with the set for "2PLN" but (without tool for PLN 80)...
... once I spent many hours on it and my conclusions are:
- 1/5 rivet nuts can be kneaded perpendicular to the frame. the rest made me slightly crooked, which made the screws difficult to screw in.
- some rivet nuts cannot be fully kneaded in this way and start to twist in the middle, which makes you have a BIG problem, because you have to re-drill them.
-the rivet nut not crushed with the riveting tool has a much lower strength.
