As an Independent, I'm not allowed to vote in primaries in my state, so in 2016, I registered as a democrat to be able to vote in the primary (to vote against Hillary). I switched back to Independent after the election and after 2020, finally joined the republican party. Someone's voter registration does not necessarily prove anyone's political allegiance.

I bought and read Timothy Snyder's little book "On Tyranny" back in 2016. And it does indeed allude to Trump in at least one little part of the book from what I remember, but does not name Trump. It is a good book in my view but the Left appears more like the path to Tyranny than Trump and the Right. This doesn't mean "liberals" are fascists. But the Left, differentiating the Left from Liberalism, is definitely a problem in America right now.
