Last night three young men from Birmingham who were swimming in the Gulf drowned.

Same here. I can remember like yesterday, as we decided to swim in dog river 😂. I was a 15 yr old sophomore on the football team. The current took me under. I thought it was over, when some guys came to save me in a boat ⛵. They threw a raft for me.

Same here my sis and I had a boat and got on WITHOUT TELLING MY PARENTS so the current take us out and luckily the boat was a bright color so my parents were able to save us, except for the boat.

A lot of people don’t know how to get out of a rip current they think they can try to swim towards the shore when they have to swim with the Horizon until you are out of the current then you can swim in to the shore. I grew up a few miles from the ocean & every year people that don’t know the ocean just jump right in & some die.

We had a family trapped in a riptide here in Vero Beach, the two children were rescued but the mother and the father drowned. 😢

Yes, also Sat 2 teenagers drown off the NY coast by getting caught in a rip current. Be safe this summer swimmers!

Sadly swimming at night and under red flag warnings which clearly vacationers ignore whether day or night! Just because you are young doesn’t mean you are invincible and stronger than tides! Made an inadvised choice to go jump in water when you could have hit the pool! RIP!

Beach accidents are ridiculous this year. Don’t. Swim. Against. A. Rip current. Swim parallel with the shore til u come out. Flip and float. Don’t panic.

An acquaintance drowned in Florida caught in a riptide. He was in his 70s. He had eaten supper and drank. He was a good swimmer and couldn’t survive.

i didn’t even understand rips until maybe a year ago but i’ve survived them without even knowing. they’re so dangerous even in the day. i’m sending videos to my mom so she doesn’t panic and just floats til nothing is pushing or pulling her

They were so young. Crazy that all 3 men passed. To me that just shows how unforgiving the ocean really is! 3 men and not 1 of them stood a chance up against this rip current. How far out were they I wonder? And where were they in comparison to the women who were able to make it out? Thank god they are ok but I can’t imagine what they are feeling right now ❤❤

I would bet the women had a much higher body fat % which makes floating much easier

They need to teach people how to survive a rip current The shock of the power moving under you is the first initial thoughts But swim with it and you will propel towards the shore Wish i could have been stuck in their with them and guided them out. -COMANCHE NATION

I grew up near the ocean & you have to respect its power. There are signs on our beaches that tell you to swim with the horizon until you are out of the rip tide, then you can swim to shore but people still drown, it’s sad they are on vacation & don’t know the fury that the ocean can bring forth.

NO...PEOPLE NEED TO TEACH THEMSELVES AND USE COMMON SENSE...3 PEOPLE INCLUDING 2 YOUNG GIRLS WERE ATTACKED BY SHARKS JSUT 2-3 WEEKS AGO ON THE SAME DAY NOT TOO FAR FROM THIS AREA.... Not only are Rip Currents potentially going to be stronger outflowing at night...I heard the 3 jumped off one of the bridges and didn't enter the water from the shore but that could be rumor... While tragic, all who entered those waters after dark did not use good judgement and it cost them their lives...

@@Capt_OscarMike I use to have to launch my net a half mile out off the shore with my net in a fiberglass tub right as the sun was setting. I should have been eaten for sure. The water is black underneath you so I do agree with you. -COMANCHE NATION

I live in this area no damn way you can be this stupid to get in the gulf at night. All these tourist come here and treat the gulf like a swimming pool. RIP to these young guys who made the mistake but please don’t come here and make these mistakes. By the way rip currents don’t always run parallel w the beach- sometimes they pull straight out. You have to learn to swim in current before you try any strategy… It will kill you and it is unforgiving.

Yeah we can double red flag, but that means the beach is closed. Can not go in water. Single red is the highest without closing the beach. It basically means stay out of the water, but if you go in....just know something bad could possibly happen/ high hazard. There was no reason to close the waters down that day, they should not have been past the first sand bar, especially at night. It's really sad...the water is very powerful and many people underestimate that fact.

I'm writing you today brothers and sisters because I care about you and where you spend eternity. With so many lies going around about what you must do to be saved, I wanted to share the truth about Gods word with you and maybe give you a better perspective on the Gospel (Good news) well the bible says it is appointed to man to die once and then the judgment " yes there is going to be a judgment you see God is a holy God and in him is no darkness at all..the bible says we have violated Gods law (ten commandments) and are guilty of Hell and seperation from God for eternity this originally began in the garden of eden. So that whoever repents of their sins and puts their faith and trust in Jesus christ as lord and savior, will be saved from the judgment of hell and will have everlasting life with God for eternity.
