And my favorite SAK is the Victorinox Rucksack mostly because it has a locking blade. And I have always said that with one of my SAK's I can go anywhere and survive with little effort on my part. It is a good all-around tool for survival and bushcraft.

I have had my Rucksack SAK probably 20 + years and it is still going. My favorite and the champ is a close second. Both are awesome and do almost everything you can need. If you were going to drop me into the jungle or the wilderness anywhere If I have my SAK and some string I am set I could make everything I need to live, including a crossbow if I decided I needed protection or some fast-moving food.

Certainly one of the neatest hobo stoves I've seen. Perhaps keep the cut out lid, cut 2 or 3 small inward facing tabs around the base ring and put the lid back in? Might help keep the flame from the ground - an open burn on a forest floor can be a nightmare.

Not really necessary as this is much better than an open fire and is easier to use. I do prefer a larger can to make mine, like the ones that are about 10 inches around and about the same in height. Those make an awesome stove. Just the right size and can make the opening in the side big enough to feed sticks in and is almost as efficient as a rocket stove.

Any suggestions for cleaning one up? Carried mine daily for a while and got a lil rust and buildup on the inside.. Great videos btw thanks for sharing

I use my ultrasonic cleaner, and buzz it for a bit. For rust, I usually start simple with toilet paper and polish it. Shines the metal up nice, might not remove rust. If not, oil it and wait over night, letting the spot soak. In the morning, use a wooden toothpick or soft metal (brass coin, scrubbing pad, ect.) to see if it comes off. If not, oil and soak again, and use higher grit sand paper LIGHTLY. Good luck and carry on.

when making the alcohol stove it is easier to remove the center if the top by scoring around the top from the outside and then using the same method you used to remove the center section of the can. I have made a hundred or more using this method. And I like to always make sure that the fuel can get to the inner chamber created by the three pieces to help increase the jet pressure when you place a pot on it and the small holes can jet the flames out because of pressure created from the buildup of heat. These little stoves are great for backpacking as long as you don't touch a hot surface to your bag or skin. And you will melt the bag if you place the stove into your backpack before it cools sufficient that it will not melt anything. And if you do be careful not to get the molten Substance on your skin as it will stay hot for a very long time. And you can use other fuels besides alcohol to burn in these I have used unleaded gas and some light oils as well. And kerosene will burn in these as a small heater for a tent, just be careful and don't let it touch the sides of the tent or you could be engulfed in flames quickly.
