An acquaintance of mine has a similar story- BBQ was a hobby, then side hustle, and eventually leaving a good job and starting a restaurant. It was a huge risk and a leap of faith but thankfully it is working out well so far. This was also a good illustration of the need for good quality firewood when it comes to servicing a restaurant.

Cooking wood has to be 2 steps up from boiler wood. It’s more than just btu’s, it flavors the food. At any given time there can be $1000 worth of meat in the smoker. That makes “cooking” wood as I refer to it, more valuable than boiler or fire wood. Good stuff Joe!

During my working years, I’d travel through the Boardman/Youngstown area often. Those pork belly sliders sound great, but I’d have get some brisket to take home. Great video, Joe! Small business owners are vital to any community.

@@ohiowoodburner given how uniform the splits are I would expect that some specialized equipment like you’ve shown was used. I split it further with a maul by hand but I think that will get old very quickly 😂 The wood delivered was kiln dried, but I’d like to try getting some green to season it in the backyard and maybe save a couple bucks. Real barbecue / smoking is a new hobby for me and I have a lot to learn!

One of my recommendations to firewood KZfaqrs is to interview those who buy your firewood, and see how they burn/use it! You appear to maybe be the only one that does this! I love it! It isnt boring! What you and Jeremy have done is amazing.

Imagine how prosperous we would be in the US if it didn't take a year of nonsense to open a basic business. This guy persevered and made it through it (with a smaller margin for error), but imagine how many people have quit and thrown in the towel. Making everyone's life worse.
