Bro you’re crazy! Love this stuff and the positivity you put out there. Burning drift wood is fine, I grew up on the bay and we spent so much time around driftwood fires. Don’t breathe the smoke but you wouldn’t do that anyways and don’t cook directly over the fire since you don’t know if it’s got any chemicals in it, you’re totally find to use it the way you have been!
@BigDukeX4 ай бұрын
Replace the tarp with an inflatable kiddie pool, ideally one large enough to allow you to stretch out. There are a ton of them out there, so choose one that won’t be too heavy to hump down to your beach site. You’ll also need to use larger logs/coals in order to maintain a steady heat source on the coil.., especially when it’s windy. You really don’t want to inhale that driftwood smoke, it contains toxins like chlorine ions and breathing these in could cause multiply health issues. Keep living life on the edge Matts!!!

Hey dude! research "Dioxin" its released ( among other toxins ) when you burn driftwood, love the vids.🤙
@trippinoutdoors4 ай бұрын
Funny enough, most bonfires are done using entirely driftwood. Considering the wood is obviously all natural, I fail to understand how it's possible it contains dioxins as if it came from a factory or industrial plant just because it's been adrift
@tangofandango094 ай бұрын
Something to do with the high salt content apparently ( just what I read ) and how is drift wood "Obviously" all natural? By your logic, there is no way possible drift wood could have been treated/processed prior being sent adrift.... "Burning the absorbed salt releases sodium and chlorine ions which form dioxins that are carcinogenic. People with bronchitis or asthma are particularly vulnerable"@@trippinoutdoors
@trippinoutdoors4 ай бұрын
@@tangofandango09 Well if the wood was treated or processed, it wouldn't have a natural shape, with parts of limbs and such still on the trunk and branches/limbs that float about. The timber industry is akin to major produce distributors and stores, where they're incredibly picky and only accept and sell "perfect product". So the chances any drift wood is processed or treated is minimal. And if that's the basic chemistry behind how dioxins form and get released, then any burning and/or boiling of salt water is producing it. Which also would mean any firewood people take from inland to the beach to then burn in a bonfire (which most people never do) would immediately become coated in salt from the marine air and sand, making all fires burned on beaches dioxin producers. So I still am skeptical if that science is accurate personally. Also though semantic, technically ALL fires of any kind produce carcinogens. Smoke is itself carcinogenic. And if we're to avoid them at all costs, then no one should ever go anywhere close to fires of any kind nor have any. Not even a barbeque. Wouldn't you think that's rather drastic and stupid?

i was thinking it would be super helpful to get some sort of rubber adhesive you could stick on both sides of tarp before feeding hose through help keep the water in. also have a longer bath tub like bath rather then larger circular tub. i’d believe it would be easier to heat due to the amount of water and shape. love the video man so glad i stumbled across your page! love the motivation message in the beginning.❤ makes me wanna try at a river nearby!

Hey Matt on your question about driftwood I find that burning freshwater driftwood works great, but saltwater driftwood seems to burn more slowly. I've not heard of any health hazards burning driftwood, just make sure none of the wood you burn is treated lumber because those fumes are hazardous.

Indomi is on sale at Costco, stock up while it is on sale! 😂 also it will not get that hot because the cold sand is leeching the heat away. You will need to put insulation or another layer between the tarp and the ground if you want to get it hotter.

Fun seeing you do different stuff on beach. Once kids are tad bigger bring them along or have wife bring them a day after build another hot tub.
@makingamaker978029 күн бұрын
Bro literally made a coffee percolator... @Fisherman's Life - A couple tips: If you use a little more flexible hose, you can put your inlet at the bottom of the tub, without cutting a hole in the tarp. The energy it takes to "lift" the cold water up is regained when it drops back down to the bottom of your fire coil. If you keep both ends of the siphon submerged, it will be slightly more efficient and smoother operating (less bubbling and steam, more hot water). The copper is a great conductor of heat, but it's conducting right into the cold humid sand before it gets to your tub. Try packing a pool noodle for your return pipe (or something more fire resistant).
