In a past vlog we tried to have traditional Filipino breakfast at a carendaria that cooks up fresh Filipino food every day but you guys corrected us and told us that in actual fact that is not the proper Filipino Breakfast. So today we set out with our Filipino Friend Jobert to try 3 Filipino Breakfast Favorites in Manila. We ventured out in Poblacion to try Taho, Pande Sal in 3 in 1 Coffee and Tapsilog or Tapa.

If only all of the vlogs from Asia looks like this one. Foreigners in their vlogs are actually trying to show people's culture and way of everyday life. But instead, We frequently just get the typical dirty old sex tourist who's only trying to exploit young poor uneducated girls in the area.

The best thing to do with black coffee in the Philippines is to put rice on it. As in sabaw kape. That's classic Filipino breakfast. Rice in coffee soup.

Points i need to mention 1. Tapsilog is not an expensive breakfast. Maybe because u guys tried it in a hotel that will sky rocketed the price. However or usually tapsilog is very cheap ranging 45 - 100php 2. The tapioca in the taho is not made of taro. It is made up of starch coming from cassava or potato sumtimes rice. 3. The pandesal here in the phillippines is usually paired with mantikilya or kesong puti. Since its hard to find kesong puti in manila we pair it with liver spread "reno". 4. There are lot of options like kakanin, champorado, lugaw and even canned sardines with garlic rice. But for me my breakfast or either an average pinoy breakfast is tuyo (dried fish) and garlic rice. Somtimes with salted egg and tomatoes.

In my opinion tapsilog is not cheap nor expensive, the cheapest tapsilog that i know is about 50-70 pesos and 50-70 pesos is considered not cheap if your talking about some of the filipino making about 200-500 per day. The Pandesal + 3in1 for breakfast in my Opinion is cheap. It will totally depend on the people on how they perceived cheapness and expensiveness

Unfortunately, i think his friend is not really that well acquainted with filipino foods. Otherwise he wouldn't have said that tapsilog is for special occasions since it's expensive. Plus he gave several misinformation as well. shouldn't have acted as a know it all.taho pearls are also made from tapioca not taro

Tap-si-log= TApa(driver beef): SInangag(friedrice): log (egg).. old times when no freezer available the beef tapa are dried to preserve. Taho we learned that from chinese. I buy taho because Its so fast to eat. When im going to work i just buy taho, gulp it and ride the jeep going to work. Pandesal and coffee we eat that style when we have no salary. It's cheap and affordable and innovative way to make the bread tasty. Thank you jobert for not explaining. Hahaha 😋😋😋 Jobert i already subscribe to your channel bro.

Btw, as a Filipino, I think of the Silog breakfast as a great complete breakfast that can satisfy and fill you up to start up your day, you got your eggs and garlic rice, very important, and your choice of viand, my choice most of the time would be sweet Tocino, but every other choices are great too.

Heard that the taho that’s being peddled on the strrets like that has white cement in it, as it serves as a coagulant, to make it thick. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but we stopped ordering it in whole sets (for our feeding programs for the poor and celebrations of our parish priests’ sacerdotal anniversaries). Sorry, man. But they said chilled taho is safe and a good alternative. It is available in some restaurants...

Great video. You're right on the money this time Mike. Those are truly Filipino breakfasts. Tapsilog is a heavy breakfast meal. It is an upgraded Filipino breakfast, the original is garlic rice, fried egg or salted egg, tuyo (dried fish) and tomatoes. Taho is breakfast-on-the-go for busy yuppies. And the poor man's breakfast, 3 in 1 coffee and hot pandesal. Trivia for you Mike, the 3 in 1 coffee that you know is actually 4 in 1 for most Filipinos. The first 3 are the contents of the package (coffee, creamer and sugar) and the 4th thing is the sachet or the package. Fold it 3 to 4 times, it can be used as the 'stirrer". Filipinos do this. BTW Nelly ate that pandesal in a very Filipino way, with her one leg on top of the chair. Great, great video.

Yummy! It's morning here in Sactown but there's no place to eat some tapsilog or any filipino breakfast. :( Loved the videos and really appreciate you both for introducing our native cuisine to the world. Keep in happening! :) Btw, the next time you have TAHO and Sago or Tapioca, make sure to stir them together like halo halo and drink it as is.

I see you met Spanky! Awesome guy from the local food blogging scene. Great to see that you actually hit the streets for authentic taho and not the chilled kind ;)

I liken Taho to a Yogurt...when I first moved to the USA, I was missing taho so bad, and not being able to find it locally, I substituted yogurt instead...hey they are both delicious and nutritious, and texturally similar, only thing is, one is eaten warm and the other cold.

Hi there!! Glad you tried some of the typical Filipino breakfast. Hope you enjoyed them. As for the Taho, you’re supposed to mix them well before you start eating it. The pearls are tapioca not taro.
