Everyone should know not just good hand-to-hand self-defense, but also basic weaponry. Well, nothing is better for an everyday concealed carry (EDC) tool than a tactical folding knife. The problem is, though, that Hollywood and popular culture has portrayed knives as nothing more than an ineffectual weapon of scoundrels. In this video we cover the biggest of these myths, why they’re completely wrong, and why you should absolutely learn to use (and carry) a knife for your self-defense.
Check out the links below for instructional books and online videos about rational and moral use of the folding knife.

I always heard that the loser dies right there, and the winner dies on the way to the hospital

The book is excellent and I highly recommend to anyone. We actually adopted it here.

I studied Kali for a short while years ago so I would never argue about the usefulness of a knife but I think you actually need to follow this video up at some stage because there are a lot of issues here and everyone must think on them deeply. We do not have an automatic right to defend ourselves anymore and there are two battles that must be fought. The first is the actual combat and the second is in court later on. After much thought over the years I decided that I'd rather fight the second battle as the defendent than be the guy with the toe tag being identified by loved ones at the morgue. I suppose the best way is to win is the strategic way by using the art of fighting without fighting. But as I said there is much to be discussed here in parallel with just self defence. By the way, the Phillipinos have a saying that goes "How do you tell between the winner and loser of a knife fight? THe loser dies at the scene and the winner dies at short time later in the hospital from blood loss."

Bladed weapons can be very effective, but against what sort of attacker? As far as laws, the SCOTUS have implicitly held that all knives are covered by 2A, however not all jurisdictions are in alignment with SCOTUS regarding 2A.

My teacher would always say the difference between the winner and the loser in a knife fight is the winner trickles and the loser gushes 😮 best advice RUN

@@Al-Ex-North-Star The Punisher, Batman, Blade, Paul Atreides, I could go on but I get what's he's getting at. The the knife thing is a trope, I also teach Self-defense here in Cleveland and I teach all my students to carry at least a knife on them at all times, because it's a useful tool. If you have to cut off a seatbelt or something, maybe need it to pry something or dig into something, a knife can be anything. Even a self-defense weapon if necessary. Any Smart man or Woman keeps a knife on them at all times, because you ever know if you might just need a sharp, pointy object.

Ha. Yeah, there’s Rambo and Dundee. No doubt. Exceptions to the general rule, of course. But I’d also say that both of those characters were outsiders…a bit rogue as it were, which also reinforces the point when you think about it. Normal good guys carry guns, not knives. That’s the main theme of entertainment. Rambo and Dundee had knives because they were “advanced” survivalists so I think our contention is lost in that interpretation. Nevertheless, you’re right…they were good guys with knives. Big ones too lol. Thanks for watching and for the input.

People Say run but what if you cnt

Or what if the other guy is faster? Trying to outrun somebody is actually a greater match of physicality than trying to fight them. Obviously avoid violence wherever you can, but anyone who says, "Just run away" doesn't understand self-defense.

People who say run are just giving the lazy answer. The correct answer is: if you can, run. If you can't grab an object and protect yourself.

Unfortunately, here in the UK, if we did have a sharp Tic Tac, we could still be arrested if the cops think it might be used as a weapon!!! :(

Just worried that Mike’s legs are way too old to carry him through a spirited contest. Of course, if he lands clean he takes Jake out, but age is the one enemy that’s undefeated.

Good video as always. I intend on buying both your video and book about using the knife. I think you should talk to Michael Raymond from Medusa System, you'd be a great addition to our ranks.

In my defense I think a long stick wood do a better job in knocking food down from a tree without cutting it down yet I would only have smashed food to injoy not well cut snacks. 🥹

No. But in Canada you can not use it even when being killed without being criminally charged. And you can not carry it concealed either or closed, no longer then 4" blade, and must say it is for opening boxes or bags of Doritos and not for self defense.
