"I thought you hated the theatre, I do! I also hate the sight of blood, but it's in my veins" What a line!

This might be the first time I've heard Charlie Chaplin speak. What a loveable fella he was!

1. His nostalgia. 2. His decline. 3. His legacy.

this movie wasn't a decline.

I haven't seen this in years. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was home sick from school and every time it was on, i would try to catch it.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD TWO MORE REASONS! 1) It Was The Movie That Brought CHARLIE CHAPLIN And BUSTER KEATON Together. & 2) It Finally Won CHARLIE CHAPLIN A Competitive Academy Award After (Winning A Couple Honoary Oscars) For His Co-Written Music Score,Look It Up!.

God I really like these Criterion cuts. Editing of some clips on this channel is another level. Like this or Bresson's hands.

Filmed him doing the splits and played it backwards.

he was very flexible BTW.

Zach Johnson He used reverse very well. The only tell here is that his jacket belies gravity. Most of the roller skate scene in Modern Times is achieved the same way. Still, astounding.

I used to think that, but as Terry herself said, Calvero saved her life & inspired it when she was as low as she could possibly be. And he wasn't really an "old coot", he was philosophical, experienced, cultured, also no-nonsense but kind.
