Hey man, I know this video is like almost 3 years old now... lolol but I'm a relatively new sole proprietorship mobile repair service in my local area.. I've been using square since the start of 2022. Would you be willing to make a video outlining your order of operations that you follow for processing a client's service? such as; Intake of a new client, estimation/acceptance/invoicing, scheduling the repair/diag, and post service close-out? I've noticed I have a hard time with staying super consistent with things.. I'm not really too sure what to add in my Items / Services tab, so pretty much the only thing that I have saved in those is a line item for Labor (0.00 format, $100/hr), Multipoint Inspection, Pre-purchase Inspection, Diagnostics, and that's pretty much it... Any time I add parts it's just a single-use custom line item... So my reporting in square is a bit funky because of so many custom items and what not.. Also would like to know more about their charge-back protection that you mentioned. I inputted my EIN number on sign-up, but I'm not sure of whether or not that was enough. I never noticed anything in the UI that was related to anything of that nature. [[Ok, I think I typed enough lolol I'd appreciate any information, or even a special walk-through if at all possible... Thanks in advance, Mike :) ]]

Had a side shop for extra money a few years ago. Advertised on Nextdoor. I had so much work I was 3 weeks out. I only worked on cars 10 years and newer. Mostly did brake jobs and engine lights. Nothing major. Made pictures of the old parts and new. Offered the old parts for proof of repair. I charged 110 hr and shop supplies. Parts were marked up a few dollars. Any diagnosis that took me 10 mins range was free. I mostly worked with housewives and who had extra vehicles. No rush. I did a few charity cases. Every one tried to scam me. I would deliver cars 2 miles and closer. Had one customer ask for a new serp belt. Water pump was bad. Texted and emailed the woman her car needed to get towed or driven home only. Had a call a week later. Was treated to be sued. I told the lady I had proof the car was not safe to be driven. That saved my ass. Had to quit my shop when it affected my main shop job. I knew guys who worked on old cars and nothing but horror stories . Broken bolts etc. Nice video!

I will consider getting an ASE certification but only after I sort out the details of my business first and after I work on my skills at the junkyard and after I post some youtube or facebook videos of me draining oil and after I purchase all of the most relevant tools I need.

ASE certs are an ok one time deal. Market scam to have to "re certify", no one cares! Mine (all 8) expired last month, NOT gonna re test, no need. Plus, I'm fryin so fkn hard now I couldn't pass the ase brake exam, let alone tye my shoes! Later!

I don't need to accept cash and besides cash is quite cumbersome to do legally because you also need reciepts. However, I do want to provide my customers with multiple ways to pay me and cash is the most liquid form of payment that I can think of so I will be accepting cash and they will get a receipt. However I hope that the receipt can be digital and can be emailed to both me and the customer and maybe my business attorney that is if I have one. And I don't mind having a business attorney because I do want to be held legally accountable just so I don't get in trouble with the law. I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO JAIL AND I WANT TO GET PAID ALREADY lol.

I am perfectly fine with the two "signatures" I have. I honestly don't think I need anymore. I've done my part multiple times over and over again. Now I honestly feel like yall should cut me some slack, but whatever there's only so much I can do under the laws of this nation.

I'm starting out with oil changes, then I might move on to brake pads and rotors, then batteries, then shocks and struts, then alternators, and then that will be about it. I might do more research but I'm not sure about that yet.

What if a mechanic makes a mistake on a repair its evident and the customer wants a charge back on that what she paid for?
@MidnightSpeedNSound
@MidnightSpeedNSound 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. So I suppose it depends on the situation as a starter but most of the time the bank/credit card company wants to see a reasonable effort from both parties. So if the shop has tried reasonable accommodation and the customer still refuses, the bank doesn't like that and usually it works in your favor provided you have ample evidence. This is why I stress photos, documentation of every communication, contracts, etc. If there is a mistake and it's the shop's fault, most of the time the customer won't go through the hassle of chargeback if you just do the right thing. That's just my experience in this.

I will inspect all of the relevant car parts that are involved with my services before and after the service on every single service. However, I'm only taking pictures when I see that the relevant car components are fucked up beforehand. And I might take pictures of my work afterwards that way the customer can't say that I didn't do my job. However, in my contact I am not going to have a warranty so all work that I do is NOT refundable unless if a judge orders otherwise.
@MidnightSpeedNSound
@MidnightSpeedNSound 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a lawyer but you should verify with your state department of consumer affairs on laws and regulations regarding warranty. A contract is only as good as the state law allows. If your state law says you have to provide a warranty, your contract won't hold in court because state law overrules the contract.
