UAD’s tape emulations are the best out there, no one else comes close imho!!

@@PatrickPleau Agreed. Demoed ATR and Studer from UAD at the same time when I was demoing Taupe. Bought Taupe...although its very limited compared to the UAD offerings...but the sound was better in my ears. Softube Tape is not bad either.

The IK Tape Machine collection is pretty good as well, just different flavors. UAD are still my go-to tape emulations.

@@PatrickPleau yeah, but I don’t need them honestly. UAD works perfectly fine for my needs. Rather spend more time y’know, actually getting great-sounding recordings rather than blowing all my paychecks on a bunch of other plugins that do the same thing imho. I get that there’s other benefits to invest in some from other companies like Acustica, but I don’t mind sticking to UAD because it’s what I’m familiar with and it works for me (:

Hey UA, how about an Apollo Heritage X4 / Twin tape promo that includes the Studer & Ampex with a new interface? That would surely be a very tempting, compelling reason to jump into the world of UAD…

We're working hard on it! But there's nothing to announce at this time. Everything is working well under Rosetta in the meantime and since none of our software is very CPU intensive, it's not noticeable.

I’m all for emulations and experimenting with plug ins and what not. But you cannot compare real tape with these plug ins. If you remove the visual interface to create the illusion it’s hitting tape- what you’re left with is a digital sounding saturation and filter plug in. The beauty of real mechanical tape is the inconsistencies and anomalies- using a tape plug in is such an oxymoron. And for the same price as one of these plug ins you can just as easily go out and buy a little 2 track deck and get better results with more organic and unique sonics. Plug ins are a means to an end, but not something I’d entrust my mixes with to impart mojo or character.
