I think just modding stats of existing blocks is pretty easy. Maybe you could try just making tires with a friction coefficient of 10. If it works well enough, the devs might just change the game like that, so wheels are more viable

On that grief shark testing at the end- what about adding another spinblock at the top where it attaches to the bottom of the ship? Then you spin it so the ship remains level to reduce drag force from the ship. :)

It is a shame that walkers are so unpractical, they are one of the most epic looking vehicles.
