Living in the Philippines is not for everyone but for those Filipinos as always when they retired they went back to the Philippines because the life in the Philippines is too far to compare than living in the foreign land. As planned when i retire early since I have only 2 more years and 4 months to wait then i will leave the USA. I like to live in the province where my parents lived and the property is facing the ocean which is very peaceful and quiet with fresh air , fresh seafoods and fresh vegetables plus with coconut trees, and banana trees around the property. Im looking forward to go home and experience a life in the Philippines.

When you come from a foreign country, especially, the US, and come to the Philippines, you can see how fortunate you are when you see the standard of living here compared to yours. You can never be depressed about yourself here coz even though, mostly, people here are poor, they know how to entertain themselves. People here are very social and hospitable to tourists. Will make you smile and laugh. Oh yeah for sure, Filipino people knows that laughter is the best medicine.

Hi Mark, new to your vlogs. I was raised in Bacolod City, perhaps you'd been there. Had been out of Philippines 36 years, living in Southern California. Also a retired army reservist, spent 27 years with deployments in middle east. Evaluating to going back in Negros, I am worrying about safety here in the US. Violent crimes keep on rising. So may incidents were people of Asian decent had been beaten or harassed. It seems not the America I known before. Not 62 yet so not in SS pension but with VA and army pensions. Also doing online teaching, its a trade school, teaching electrical theories, codes and building electrical system. Thank you, appreciate your updates.

Hi Mark. Good evening all the way from Chicago, USA. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and emigrated here for economic reason. I was petitioned by Roseland Hospital as a nurse after passing nursing exams and interviews. I'm happy for turning your life 180 degree. I think Philippines is undiscovered, under represented and simply put it underdog. Philippines has a lot of things to offer to expats like you. A lot of people speaks English to start with. We welcome Americans and any other foreigners that come to visit or live in the Philippines permanently. I too with my family are thinking of going back home to live there. Thanks for sharing your life. I'm sure a lot would find it helpful in battling loneliness, desperation and helplessness. God bless. "Mabuhay".

Hi Mark Nice meeting you the other day at Ground Zero. Thanks for recapping your story. More people men especially need to reminded that there is hope. Regardless of your circumstances or situation life can dramatically change for the better. You have to stay positive keep moving forward and listening to other inspirational stories. We can all learn from each other's stories. Need to hear the good, bad and sometimes ugly . Keeping it real and staying positive will help anyone. Life is too short live it. Live in the moment and enjoy each day. Make your own personal happiness a reality. Many men work their whole lives and don't know what they want. Discover, learn, and live life. Make mistakes fail, sometimes end up nothing,..like in a divorce or failed relationships, appreciate the blessing of life itself. The Philippines will change any man Regardless of age or social status . Embrace the people the culture and assimilate. Leave the Westen world's behind Don't chase material goods or money or cars or homes. When it's all over you can't take it with you. Only the friendships you created the moments that you shared with loved ones and the experiences that shaped your life. Keep up the channel and being inspirational to many others. Your life can change dramatically..Make a decision and take action and let life unfold and surprise you. Enjoy the journey, be kind to others, lots of beautiful warm hearted people in the Philippines and exapts. Life is meant to be lived. Like Nike slogan " Just do it. " Live, love and take care of each other and your world can be an exciting adventure. Thank you Mark ..and everyone take care and thank you for sharing your stories and others. It's a blessing to all of us. Stay happy stay positive and keep up the wonderful work your doing!!

I myself just finished a two year long typical USA gold-digger divorce. I am getting ready to make a trip to the Philippines this November. I went to Thailand last year for several months and this year want to explore your area . I want to be somewhere that I can socialized, but not a big city. Do you feel Dumaguete would be a cost effective, yet fun area to visit. Any advice of areas to look at staying.

Hey Mark...didn't know your story. Thanks for sharing. I lived in Cebu up until March 2000 and had a call center there. But shut it down. I look forward to getting back eventually. Kinda of needed your video today.

I’m so glad I got out of my comfort zone… within a few years we travelled big chunks of SE Asia. How many people can say they’ve lived 2 or more cultures, in one life time. That’s what drove me to decide to build in the Philippines. Love your channel… don’t often chime in but this video resonates with me.

@@Gmail.comyama got to all but Vietnam. We were going that way, from Cambodia, but a major storm was heading straight where we were heading. Some day. Got into Myanmar (Burma) 6days after they opened to tourists from Thailand. Mainland SE Asia… Thailand was my favourite. Chiangmai was fun as was Phuket and Ko Samui. I think Bangkok is the best city in SE Asia… IMO

Hey Mark, Your'e a very courageous person for telling your story on youtube. A lot of people have the same issues but won't admit it even to themselves. I'm happy you are doing well! I'm going to Thailand next month (food is better)

You have a great story and a lot of balls to move to the Philippines under those circumstances. I'm coming next year, but I'll be 70 and will start drawing social security.

I can relate to what your saying. I'm a younger man who was in a rut and had the opportunity to work and live overseas in Asia 8 years ago, and it was by far the best decision I have ever made. Every time I think about returning to the USA it just seems to get worse.

Being content with what you have I think is the moral of your story at least how I'd sum up your story and that alone goes a long way for anybody who'd take it seriously. Even in the Philippines, not just in America and many plce else, people who have bombarded themselves with a lot of materials may have been happier, but Life as we know it boils down to being happy and having peace inside of you. This is your story Mark, thanks for making me realize.

Thank you for sharing your story. My filipina wife and I moved to the Philippines from Texas about 14 months ago to retire. We're currently living in Muntinlupa City. I have to admit that the move hasn't been easy and sometimes I really miss the states, but now that we're in our second year things are getting better. I wish you continued success.
