Just finished the whole video, funnily enough, my husband is 21 years older than me and I exactly said the same thing to him!! My Dad died at 50, my Mum at 60! What chances have I got?!! So I gave my husband a blessing that if I die before him he can have another Filipina! Haha

Philip understood the Filipino culture specifically about supporting the family. However, there are certain degrees on how this is being necessary and it depends on what part of the Philippines you came from. For us in the high land, we do support our family specially if we are the bread winner as they say, but if possible we do not want to be a burden to any member of the family so we will work hard to meet our own needs. We do not ask for our sisters or brothers or our parents for help not unless we really need help. However, if you are the one with a good job having a better life, you just give help anyway even nobody is asking for help if you know your brother or sister or parent is having a hard time. The point is, to us in the high land, we try not to become a burden to our family if we can, but at the same time, we try to support whoever is having a hard time. I know that some people, once they have family member working abroad or having a good job, they will become too dependent on that person even if they have the ability to work for themselves. The sad thing is some people tolerate this.

In terms of beaches and natural wonders, i think PH is far more beautiful than Thailand. I've heard so many vloggers who've been to both countries say the same. Palawan alone will blow your mind. No wonder it was named WORLD'S BEST ISLAND in 2020 by Travel + Leisure magazine. Siargao and Boracay were also recognized by Conde Nast publication as among the best in the world. Also, PH won Asia’s Leading Beach Destination (6th time) and Asia’s Leading Dive Destination (4 times straight) at the recent 29th World Travel Awards held in Vietnam. And it's not just beaches and amazing marine life. Our terrain and landscapes are also very diverse too. Go to, say, Baguio and it will look like you're not in Southeast Asia anymore with its pine trees and cool weather. Or go to the mountains and coves of Zambales which looks like those of Canada. Or Batanes which looks like Scotland or New Zealand. The only problem is that our tourism infrastructure still needs a LOT of improvements. And another negative is that PH is calamity-prone, being in the Typhoon Belt AND the Pacific Ring of Fire. But inspite of all that, Filipinos remain one of the happiest people in the world. Maybe it's because we have learned to look on the bright side and be thankful for the little things. :)

Hi, Mark & Phil, I enjoyed your interview chat. Phil, you have a good grasp on how things work in the Philippines. Understanding their culture is a must because their ideas could be very different from yours. Behind the scenes, your wife was caught up in the gossip. People making comments about not being married and she never told you, you had to hear it from others. I bet you were upset to think she was struggling and you were not aware of it. This is a woman of high class who has integrity she did not want you to feel pressured. I think once you find a good one that's a keeper they will be your lover, friend, parent, teacher and nurse because you are her husband. Such loyalty as this deserves reward. Build them their house. So that they have security especially if there are kids involved. You will need to live somewhere so why instead of renting buy or build your wife a home, Property over there is cheap. you don't need to spend a fortune. A house on the outskirts of a city is much cheaper than a central one. I would like to hear about your time now in the Philippines. Take care GOD Bless you and yours, M

My English husband had to pay thousands of £££ for my visa and now my British passport, that doesn't include that we both pay ridiculous amount of taxes between us because we are both working. So yes, somehow I feel that it should be hard enough to get a visa to filter ingenuity. Did I really want to stay put in the UK for a certain amount of time to get this British passport whilst looking at foreigners enjoying 365 days of tropical weather with their Filipina in exotic island in my home country?! I am envious to say the least. My husband and I paid for my British passport financially, emotionally, psychologically and physically so in the future we'll have no difficulties splitting our time between UK and Philippines.

Once again a very well balanced interview... I live sometimes in General Santos & I have quite a few pump boats and a mother boat chasing Blue Fin.. I understand some of his mistakes that he has made in the past whereby even now he seems somewhat Psychosomatic...it has taken me years though I have lived somewhat 90% of my life in South East Asia having been born in Melbourne to become part of what is now my culture as a whiteman Filipino. I dont agree with a lot of his sentiments but of course they are opinions in which it is his right to have. If he lives here long enough in SEA he will eventually adapt to become apart of the environment & become a lot more aware of his surrounds. Hopefully my fellow Aussie eventually finds peace... Bless ninyong duha

Psychosomatic? Not sure what you're getting at, but Phillip seems very level-headed, fair, and knowledgeable to me. He's admitted he's not perfect and has made mistakes, maybe that's what you're talking about? But he's also learned a lot and seems pretty peaceful to me though.

@@Calamity_Jack We all ask in life...who am I, where am I, what am I, why am I & we all get to the point where we learn how little we really do know...he is finding that how he thinks, what he thinks and why he thinks it is what he is becoming....& thats a great start...I dont think he has looked into the mirror and been completely honest with himself...its the most difficult thing to do for a man in life...most men can not, its just to painful... I am not to judge, for every mistake this man has made I have made 10 to his 1 quite possibly. For any man or woman who is expat 3 books to read and no I am not promoting.. 1. THE WORLD FOR SALE 2. HOW ASIA WORKS 3. ASIAN GODFATHERS If he had of read these books, he would only have made 1/2 his mistakes whilst being in this part of the world... Of course tis is all an opinion and means very little apart fro those of us who have made SEA our home.
