In my opinion, the X-T50 would be a great camera if it were a little cheaper. I'd rather spend more for the X-T5 and get an upgraded EVF, battery and controls, or spend less and deal with the older X-T30/X-S10.

After watching this video and all the others on KZfaq I’ve bought an XT-50. On current plans, my Q2 will be my main camera but will use the XT-50 when I think having a zoom would be helpful. So far, I find it has too many function buttons/dials which are too easily pressed, but I’m coming from Leicas which have deliberately few buttons. I’ve switched as many off as I can, I’m just shooting raw before deciding whether to switch back on some more features. I’m not bothered about the lack of formal weather sealing - I’ve used so many cameras without problems despite not having IP ratings that I’m wondering whether it’s more of a marketing ploy than a real world issue. I’m taking it hiking next month in one of the UK's temperate rain forests so I’ll soon find out!

This camera is the best IQ for the size and weight available - especially with the new lens. Great for a landscape photographer looking to go lighter (than my heavy FF kit) but not sacrifice on IQ. The Sony A7C/R with the G20-70mm would be my ultimate pick, but is a little bigger and heavier, and considerably more expensive.

You and I actually had a few conversations over email and on Threads about this. I was struggling over the X-T50 and the X-T5 so I went and tried BOTH out as soon as they were available here in Shanghai. As I felt, both would do the job, but the EVF felt world's better on the X-T5 as did the feel of the camera, the bigger battery, the weather-sealing, and honestly I wasn't willing to trade my ISO dial for a Film Simulation dial I (probably) wouldn't use. Size wise, they weren't much different in the hand. In my experience, the X-T5 was just a better camera...plus (if the rumors are true), all the film simulations will come to the X-T5 with the newest firmware update.

hi fabulous review as always, and you have made me more comfortable with my preorder. I was a little worried about the price, but in the end sold my xt30mk1 and preordered an xt50. My plan is to use it for travel and edc, and as back up for my xt5, which will still get rolled put for wildlife, concerts, etc. I have arthritis in my fingers, so several people have suggested I buy an a6700, with the bigger grip. However, I have gone for a small rig grip, which may or may not get used, rather than running two ecosystems. I did also also look at the luminix s9, but as a photography first sort of guy, that camera made no sense to me. Looking forward to the delivery now, given the x100vi issues, what do you reckon, christmas this year or Easter next year?

It's interesting that the X-T50 (body only) is approximately 20% lighter, 19% cheaper, and 39% smaller than the X-T5. For travel, street, and lifestyle photography, I love what Fuji is doing to support photographers in these areas. The X-PRO4 can't come soon enough-hopefully with new manual focus lenses to give us a shooting experience similar to Leica's M range. If Fuji can also include Nikon's approach to focus confirmation with manual glass, we may have a killer street package that offers a shooting experience I now much prefer over autofocus.

Staying away from KZfaq and senseless biased (paid) reviews on social media is the best way to decide if you need a camera or not! I was initially excited to get the Fujifilm X-T50 despite the unjustifiably high price. I knew many have complained about the decision to have film simulation on the top dial. So I stayed away from watching all those biased reviews saying how fantastic the X-T50 is. Wow, I am so refreshed! I have come to my senses and I am very happy to say I now know I DO NOT need nor want the X-T50. It is indeed overpriced. Don't just compare its price to the better X-T5. I am very convinced now it does not justify the huge price gap against the X-T30II. And yes, the silly film simulation dial is a no-go for me. I don't want to upgrade nor buy a camera that does little to my joy for photography. I'm keeping my old Fujifilm X-T30II for now. Fujifilm, listen up! You'd better make good use of the next 2 years to re-design the X-T60! Don't screw it up badly again. You should consider letting the X-T60 have an ISO top dial. I am pretty sure you will remove the superfluous film sim dial! A mistake is a mistake. Learn from it. :)

For the price range it’s in it’s still missing dual card slots and weather sealing as it’s virtually in the same price range as the X-T5. And its build quality indicates it should be cheap not a premium price. I had high hopes until the released it at this price as I think it should be avoided. It’s basically a cheap spec camera at a premium price. Avoid. We’re not stupid Fuji.

@@r423sdex not nonsense. It’s way overpriced for what it is. IBIS is pretty much standard on the cheapest cameras for the last decade and Fuji thinks it’s a premiums feature. That’s BS

@@shred3005 Do you have any recommendations for much cheaper 40mpix APS-C with IBIS at that size and weight?

@@JackBurton-qp4hc although it's heavier, i saw the x-t5 now several times second hand but good condition even cheaper than the x-t50, compared to other apsc cameras i'd say it's still small for its 40mp.
