A number of clear QC issues with these cameras (hot pixels/dead pixels). Viewfinder is very slow to activate. AF speed is middling. 1/4000 max shutter speed somewhat limiting in full sun with fast glass.

Why does this ridiculously priced camera that’s video focused not shoot open gate??? The S1H does. Clearly they’re neutering this thing it’s absurd.

Can anyone tell me how the af of the z7ii compares to third gen Sony when doing photos of moving subjects. Birds/sports. I could care less about video. I want to jump to Nikon but don't have funds for z8. I'm for the most part happy with my a7Riii but the tele selection is meh and sometimes colors are a pain in post.

Your videos are always great (thanks!) we all do love to see Hasselblad and Leica gear (you do show them in their best angles 👏👏) but I can’t help thinking that the fast autofocus on the latest Nikon/Canon/Sony gear would get all the shots you want, every time?
@3BMEP2 күн бұрын
The autofocus systems from those companies are superb - next level compared to anything else - it’s true. Until both cameras and photographers are psychic, however, we will still, on occasion, miss shots. Thrill of the hunt! 😊🖖🏻

I may have picked this if it was available a few months ago when I bought the X2D. Debated long and hard between the 28 and 21. These V lenses are beautiful but hard to justify the cost over the older X series lenses on the used market if you don’t need the wider apertures

Hey Hugh, so its May 2024 and the 'ol D500 is no more. Does it make sense to get a Z7ii for $1999 at this point as it is 3+ years old. Don't have the $ for a Z8. Advice? Thanks!

Hi Hugh, Late to this specific game but how does the Sony 50, 1.4 G match to the 7CR? Too big? What IS the fastest best lens for that camera? Speed and low light for me. Thanks.
@3BMEP2 күн бұрын
It’s no 50/2.5 G in terms of size or weight (no 551/.8 either), but it is optically next level and it is smaller and less expensive than the 1.2. We think of it as the sweet spot in the standard field of view segment. Which is why we bought one for Claudia’s a7C R. 😊🖖🏻

I program the programmable ring on the new V lenses to ISO control when using it on the CFV-100c (without the grip), to make ISO adjustment easy on the fly. But otherwise would see how setting it to aperture control makes the most sense.....Thanks for your succinct review. Having the 21mm and 28P, I am not sure the 25v is worth the price of admission for me for how I shoot. But if I shot a lot of nighttime shots off of a tripod, I would jump on this lens. Otherwise, I personally prefer the wider angle of the 21mm, and the portability of the 28P. You showed the MTF chart comparisons - if I see comparison shots showing noticeably better optical performance in the 25v over the 21mm, I might be more tempted. Length and weight wise, the 21 and 25 are about the same (with the 21 being larger in diameter).

Hi thanks for this on time and great video ! As far as I am concerned I own the X2D and the latest 2,5/90v,38v,28p and the 45p. Such a joy to use and to edit with Phocus Ipad application; at the same time so frustrating to use because the absence of a proper joystick and the still poor focus performance. Did you experience shooting and editing with the Fuji GFX 100 II ? How would you compare the two systems : praticality of use and colors rendering? I am sometimes tempted to switch to Fuji as the GFX lenses are half the price of Hassselblad lenses. Patrick

Hello Hugh, Being a pocket guy myself, first let me say thank you for the fashion tips! But on a much more serious note, my sister just bought a Sony - Cyber-Shot rx10 iv 20.1 photograph and video her grandchildren. And I thought to myself would a better choice have been a used Sony Alpha A7RIII and a Tameron 28-200 Lens for very close to the same price. Certainly the sensor is bigger and presumably better. But the Cyber-Shot has a 24-600 Zoom lens, so maybe for videos it is much more practical. And probably better for pocket carry. But despite the hundreds of KZfaq photography related videos I've watched I don't really know what may be the better choice? Do you have any thoughts? Thank you.

Unfortunately, the inflationary nature of taking photos these days is without meaning or artistic considerations. It's no longer just about photography, but just about the equipment. The truth is that people don't need all this technical fog to take good photos. Um, what's up? Um technology, um equipment! Does that make the world better??

I was considering this lens for the ZF since theyre releasing one for Z mount. Im thinking i should wait on Voigtlander's 28mm 1.4 to land now. In wide angle ranges every mm is more distinct so 35mm lenses can be quite a bit different depending on your use.
@andrewrichards5765 күн бұрын
One very important thing that you do not mention at all about the CF100V is that it can be used on a large format system such as a Linhof Techno. That opens up a whole new slew of opportunities that the X2D cannot match. Adding in the 907X and the odd XCD lens (such as the 45 f4) makes for quite a versatile rig. I wish Hasselblad would develop the old V series cameras further and provide some new lenses. A mono CF100V would turn on a lot of photographers.......

Thanks for the in-depth of your vision. As a street photographer I photograph in color and black and white, but I feel how the emotions but also the sense of community and the identity are better represented in black and white. I see also a tendence to see more color street photos today because many are focused on “noise” while in black and white as you say you have to deal directly with the content.

I just happened across your channel. Querky, amusing but interesting content. I bought a Nokton 0.95 MFT used for a silly price and I love it. The ultra short DoF can be difficult to deal with. I have just bought zerene stacker and am going to try out burst mode shooting whilst slighly moving the manual focus. Watch this space 😀 Liked & subcribed. Thank you. ================================== Update: Today I tested the burst mode with Zerene Stacker and it works very well. The subject was still life but I hand held the camera. I managed to extend the DoF by about an inch whilst shooting at a distance of about 8 inches at full aperture .

Very beautifully summarised as always. The older model of a camera doesn't become worse merely because there is a newer version (even if the SL3 is stunning). It's still the same tool it was before. And hence assuming a constraint budget, it seems wise to consider whether spending one's hard earned cash either on lenses or in fact on experiences may be better. Unfortunately, my eyes are becoming less reliable and I am often way too slow focussing with my trusted M240. I finally would like to make the move to an autofocus camera. Question is whether to buy into a completely different system (Canon, Sony, etc). For example the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Digital Camera with 24-105mm f4 L Lens for just over £3K. Or get a used SL2? But then the lenses are so expensive, Bells & whistles vs exquisite design and functionality. It focusses the mind on what is really important for one's work (or hobby in my case) rather than sheer numbers on a spec sheet.

Thank you for that review. I updated to the A7 iv recently, which is a bit larger than the A7C ii and the best compromise between size and weight, when you have bigger male hands. What annoyed me on my last trips was the combination of the A7 iv and my Sigma 24-70 Art lens. Too heavy and bulky in many situations and I tended more often to leave the camera at home on spontaneous walks in cities, only with my iPhone 14 Pro in the pocket. The new FE 24-50/2.8 seems to be my relief from that and I ordered it and will sell my 24-70.
