The pooram has a history of over 200 years HIghlights 2 types of musical / rhytm instrumentations - Panchavadyam and Melam - With over 500 musicians playing in unison in each. Kudamaatom - Umbrella exchange - the two teams (15 elephants each facing each other) and competing on the creativity of umbrellas displayed. Fireworks - between the two teams Morning pooram - when the 30 elephants and the deities come and close out the pooram

I along with some friends go to thrissur and stays for 3 days. We sleep on the pooram grounds cus view from hotel will not be this majestic. Then we randomly walks until we think we have covered all the areas. Then we would be awake waiting for the 'vedikkett' (' fireworks '..... which would even shatter the glasses near the area ) all people from every religion would gather to watch the splendor..... omg the video have not even 1% gave the actual epicness of the experience

that's true. The glasses shakes in an insane way. My dad works in a building opposite to this pooram area. So during pooram time, they stick papers/rubber etc. on the glasses to prevent it from breaking due to the intensity of the fireworks. But it's a sad thing that, recently due to many firework accidents in other places(not in thrissur), government has set up many restrictions. And thus year after year, the fireworks are getting weak. In the golden days, it was so Insane...

Im sad cos i din see the entry seen of thechikkottukavu ramachandran (elephant's name) That's my favorite part. The elephant enters from thekke gopuranada and face the crowd and salutes🔥🔥 the ambiance at that time is insane. Out of this world

I am mumbaikar but mine native is thrissur so from childhood when I go to native during summer vacation. First thing I used to tell mine parents is I want to see pooram. So still whenever I go to native during pooram time I never miss it and even thrissur exhibition stall too. Real feel we will get when we stand in between that crowd.
