I give a brief over view of the throttle body on our hemi engine. It is very concerning, because we have paid for services that were suspposed to take care of this. Either the services weren't performed well or at all. OR, the interval needs to be MUCH shorter.
Hope this helps, we will post a follow up later on to show and tell how it is going and then in Three months, we will take this off again, and see what it looks like on back side.
Thank you for watching.
Marion.

Hello Daniel, Hope it works well. As time has gone on, I have had very good results with Throttle Body and intake cleaner from BG products. Most recently I have used CRC GDI intake and turbo cleaner. Also installed an oil catch can. These things all seem to have worked well. The oil catch can, drastically reduced the amount of build up on the back side of the throttle body. Thank you for watching and commenting. Maion.

Do you cleaned beyond the TB… How did that work out for the HEMI? Any issues? I can’t find any information or warnings about going that far and loosening that stuff inside… only that you want to remove the throttle body to prevent debris from going down inside the engine…

Hello Winter in Vegas, This many months since that video, I can relate the following: 1. I use CRC Intake and Turbo cleaner right before every oil change. I insert the tube in the port for the Evap hose. Keep the engine around 1800 to 2000 RPM. Be prepared for the engine to run rough for a while, but stay with it. It clears up after a while and then I perform the oil change. Then drive the vehicle. This has really helped. 2. I replaced all the coils shortly after shooting this video. 3. Between these two actions, replacing the coils and the consistent cleaning of the intake before oil changes have shown significant improvement. 4. I installed an oil catch can. I purchased the product from Billet Technologies. I am NOT paid from them. It is easy to install and great customer service. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and commenting! Marion.

So what ever happened in regards to that sound. My Jeep sounds the exact same. I figured it had to do with my air intake temp sensor. A buddy of mine, while working on something else, broke the sensor n just rested in it's "hole". 2 second fix, but whatever...... Long story short my Jeep now makes that sound as well. Totally freaking me out. Did u happen to figure out what that sound is? 🤞

Have you fixed the problem now that it's back after a year? I experienced the same thing with my 2011 Grand Cherokee. After cleaning the throttle body and installing new spark plugs a year ago, it's stalling again when coming to stops. I just replaced the the TB with brand new one in case there's electrical problem. Will see how it runs.

after cleaning the throttle body is it possible that Gunk could get caught in the fuel pump or fuel filter? after performing this on my vehicle my car stalled and won't start
@marionmitchell261
@marionmitchell261 4 ай бұрын
Apologizes for the late reply. After cleaning, we did have the engine stall and a couple of times it was hard to restart. But we were persistent and after driving the car for about 5 miles things smoothed out and it was much better. I will reiterate here, that the root cause of the stalling and other transmission problems we had was the alternator. It was not charging. It would fluctuate between 10 and 13.5 volts. So, in hindsight yes the throttle body needed cleaning, and was something that we paid to have done and was not. If you have issues with any newer vehicle, first thing is check the charging system and battery. Then, move onto other things. I hope this helps. Marion.

K&N filters will damage your engine..test results showed much more dirt getting past the K&N filters than paper..also, the filter oil gets sucked into the intake which compounds the dirt buildup.

The problem is just behind your airbox. The line leading into it from the engine is feeding all the scavenged crap in front of the throttle body. Clean it one day and a week later it looks just like yours. After market suppliers make a catch can to divert the crap into into the can. My favorite and easiest setup is from Billet. Just google Billet catch can for your hemi.

Marion Mitchell no, not really just I only have 1 code on car and it os p0430. Catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 2. Haf both cats checked and has new o2 sensors. I have been having issues with accelloration during low peddle. Such as taking off from a light when being easy on peddle or climbing a hill. But once I give it peddle it takes off. The tps sensor is inside the throttle body. And that will effect o2 readings. So its either that or the sylinoids for mds system. All that oil is blow by which is why I am installing catch can

Hello Peter, I hope this helps with your problem. I can say since we did this, KNOCK ON WOOD, the car idles and runs as good as the day we drove it off the lot. I will make this a regular maintenance thing I pay attention to going forward. Thanks for watching, and commenting. One thing that I should pass along, when you are spraying the cleaner in the bore and on the throttle plate, keep the motor or gear box up so the liquid does not enter the hole where the shaft enters that side. In layman terms, the part that has the electrical connection, keep it up and minimize the amount of cleaner getting into the shaft hole where the motor or gears are. I hope this makes sense. Marion.

The throttle body service I did today stopped the stalling issue, which became more frequent. My flapper did not detach because the Torx screws were peened over on the back. But the spray and a rag cleaned it off. I used special sensor spray for the sensor. It idles without motion or vibration, and runs without hesitation.

I recommend if you get a chance try to do two cans the seafoam spray and two separate occasions. We have a Dodge Journey 2009 with a 3.5 that had never had any service done on the intake or throttle body but that was purchased brand new. At the service recently on it two cans of seafoam a lot of patience and also a complete clean up under throttle body itself. And now it runs almost like a brand new vehicle. Way better fuel economy as well as much better smooth idle

Have a 2007 JGC with the 5.7 Hemi. Had the same stalling issue...changed the spark plugs and never looked back. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean that throttle body and perhaps add a catch can but from experience, I suspect the culprit of your issues is something unrelated.

Hello Space Gravy, Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, indeed spark plugs make a huge difference. But our PCM was at the foundation of the problems, that in turn took our other things. I will eventually get a video update out, telling what all was wrong. Marion.

That is just a symptom. The cause is that the EVAP system is malfunctioning. My theory, and this comes with MASSIVE troubleshooting. The gas tank vent valve malfunctions, maybe because of a software issue, and allows liquid fuel into the charcoal canister. The purge solenoid is supposed to allow the “vapors” from the canister into the intake through that line that runs from the purge solenoid around to the front top of intake. This release of “vapors” is supposed to happen when the computer says it is appropriate. So you’re driving along, minding your own biz, and then the engine shuts off. I think it’s from raw fuel dumping into the intake, and even worse, fuel with degraded and broken down bits of charcoal with it. Hence the intake being so ridiculously dirty. I personally think the pressure sensor in the gas tank is at fault. Or, again the computer giving the wrong command. You can replace parts all day long and of the computer is wrong the problem will return. My car shuts down in a huge variety of circumstances, but one is very telling. The top of the Cooper River Bridge is the highest point around here in Charleston, SC. Lower atmospheric pressure. One time my drivers window was down and I could smell the raw fuel, worse than with an old carbureted engine that’s flooded. It doesn’t shut off in the winter time. Does it more often when hot, but not always. Fuel level doesn’t really change it either. But ONCE, it shut off after a fill up, but a fill up of premium, which means there was ethanol involved. Hmmmmmm
@marionmitchell261
@marionmitchell261 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, Thank you for watching and commenting. I need to make a follow up video, because the entire process was lengthy. The Evap system was really the only thing that did NOT have an issue. The main fault was the PCM. That in turn took out coils, and some other things. Again thank you for watching and commenting. Marion.

Hey how's you vehicle running? Did you do the engine flush. I would have done an Engine flush, put all new oil and normal air filter, and new fuel filter.. Put in a fuel injector cleaner with a full tank of shell. And ran the car for a long drive to clean the muck. It just needs a good clean. Nothing beats diy, you can't trust anyone nowadays.
@marionmitchell261
@marionmitchell261 5 жыл бұрын
Hello All Joy, Sorry for the delay, but we put up a new video showing an odd occurrence. Maybe the way the butterfly plate is behaving is normal, but it seems odd. So, here is what we have done so far: 1. I have used BG EPR engine flush prior to the last three oil changes. (BG 109 2. We have been using HOT SHOT'S Gasoline and Fuel system cleaner. 3. One day I just for the hell of it, took and switched the coils. I.E., Took the coil for cylinder one and put it on cylinder 5, took five and put it on #3, just randomly mixed up their placement. I KEPT, the trigger wire and input for the correct and respective cylinder the same. Just moved the coil to different places. 4. Replaced the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Note: there have not been any codes given or shown at any time these are just my best guesses. 5. Replaced the EGR valve and while I was at it, I replaced the downstream O2 sensors as well, the upstreams will be a nightmare, as the exhaust down pipe needs to come off to access them. Maybe we will do a video on that and replace it with a Borla, or Flowmaster. 6. Took the wiring connector out of the transmission, there was a light oil, or some liquid, inside the connector housing. I cleaned that reinstalled it. I will check on it in a few days or weeks, and see if it continues to have an oil presence inside, if it does, then the connector housing will need to be replaced. FUN!! 7. Every ground connection I could find, including the battery negative cable, I took apart and cleaned or replaced the cable ends. Then tightened them back down, tight. 8. Then we made the recent video, Titled: Help Throttle Body followup. See what you think, is that normal? 9. So far what has happened? Well, each time we did the above mentioned tasks, the engine and performance seemed better. I am a fan of the HOT SHOT'S Gas treatment, No we are NOT sponsored. So, i think I will end up replacing the throttle body, maybe a Holley or MSD aftermarket variety, will replace the coils, again most likely with MSD. And I am thinking about replacing the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor too. I will see what happens when the Throttle body is replaced. Again look at the recent video for why I am suspicious of this. The MAP sensor is on the list of suspect items too. Will most likely be installing an oil catch can. We decided to do this course of action because, the 300 has a long list of things going on with it, not just ours but in general countless people have reported problems, so the value in selling it, or trading it in is now less. I just do not want to go through the hassle of dealing with the issues and settling on a price. Also, the amount of money we have spent on diagnostic charges is huge. Only to be told the problem can't be replicated and no codes are stored, so that money has been essentially tossed away. Yes, I get the fact peoples time is money, but when absolutely nothing is offered in return, is tiring. And, then we thought, OK. IF we had bought this car used, and it had these problems what would we do? The answer is what I have described above. I have modified all of the other vehicles we have, not hugely, but aftermarket things, etc., etc. So that is where we are at, we are not made of money, but we will do these in stages and let folks know what is happening. Apologizes for rambling on. Thank you for watching and commenting. Marion.
