These vids provide an intro on how to ride dirt bikes with heaps pf free training vids. Many of the riding techniques come from Graham Jarvis, Chris Birch and other top extreme enduro riders to form the concept of cross training - a blend of trials and enduro techniques. Try this some time by matching yourself with a riding buddy of similar skill. The growth of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events leads to cross training enduro - trials skills changed to dirt riding on enduro bikes. You'll be very surprised at the results. The rise of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events has led to cross training - trials skills applied to dirt riding on enduro bikes. The growing interest in extreme enduro has seen a resurgence in trials riding riding internationally, and many dirt riders are now joining trials clubs to improve their overall skills for basic dirt riding or hard enduro events and endurocross. Become a subscriber to this dirt bike channel, Cross Training Enduro, for extreme enduro training tips vids with techniques from Graham Jarvis and Tim Coleman on traction, wheelies, pivot turns, clutch control, and other critical skills for learning how to ride a dirt bike videos for beginners or enduro racers. The top extreme enduro riders will only lose traction deliberately for certain techniques, such as locking up the rear brake to line themselves up into a tight turn. Cross training enduro means you will almost always be standing on the pegs and learning how to use your body weight and positioning to maximum effect. Cross training enduro is the application of trials-based skills to dirt riding, and it's got solid backing from the world's top riders. Graham Jarvis says "Going fast is the easy bit. It’s going slowly that will help you develop control. Simple riding exercises which are actually difficult to perform can give you a lot of control". Speed, roosting, jumps and power slides are fun on a dirt bike but often it means we've picked up bad habits that are actually slowing us down. Almost all the best extreme riders are previously trials champions. Balance in your dirt bike riding also means you can spend more time standing on the footpegs in tough terrain instead of sitting - so you will have far more control. The goal is to develop speed but maintain that smoothness with your throttle control and gear selection. Enduro clutch and throttle control technique videos? Subscribe to our Cross Training Enduro dirt bike channel for endurocross training and dirt bike riding skills. Most trials techniques involve exact use of the clutch e.g. feathering the clutch for traction control up hills... dropping the clutch to launch the bike into the air as Jonny Walker and Graham Jarvis can do on extreme enduro racing bikes and trials bikes. The cross training enduro vids on our dirt bike channel apply the same skills to enduro bikes - you'll be amazed at the difference it makes in terms of traction and advanced techniques such as jumping up vertical rock faces ... and wheelies! Maintaining traction is a critical skill highlighted in our dirt bike videos. Learn how to ride a motorbike with tips from who has applied his trials riding to his techniques. Remember the clutch is an extension of your throttle.

I was in a construction jobsite last year, and there was a front end loader climbing a steep hill of very loose dirt. I thought I'd never do it. but the wheel would move slightly,then Lock. it did this over and over until all wheels got traction, then it drove right up the hill. I started using that trick on the bike, clutch, gas, clutch, gas. now I can get up hills that always stopped me before

''Pick a higher gear'' Good point, nice on the machine as well. You also mentioned; 'brake later' , exit under power. So true, the best GP racers in the world tell us to brake as late as possible. Also, when in 'that' higher gear as you mentioned, our suspension is loose and free, working much better for us, than being in the rev limiter, In 2nd gear all day.

So - It's not the throttle you let go of, It's the clutch you pull Instead. Question - If I immediately release the clutch after a turn, doesn't that power throw my front end up? I get how this could work up hill, using the Instant snap of the engine to propel you further after finding your traction, but I'm a bit confused with the other bit. But It sounds like this would eliminate constant shifting / downshifting Into every turn to maintain / regain lost power.

The rev limiter acts as a form of traction control while I'm standing next to the bike trying to extricate it from a bog. An upside-down KTM means you're doing it right.

I've been watching some of the on-board videos from His Honorable Sir Jarvis lately and I had noticed he goes through large portions of the race and barely gets the revs up, despite some of those portions seeming plenty wide open. Even when he does hit a wide open spot and gets his speed way up he short-shifts despite being on a smoker. And yet here he is finishing first or second in each one ;-) Definitely something to be said for throttle and traction control and knowing where WOT really pays off. Great post, as usual.

''Clutch is an extension of the throttle'' So true. For me the most important mechanical' thing to master is Clutch, street or dirt! The clutch is our lifeline. Brakes are great, throttle is great, but when that bike is looping over our heads cause we weren't covering the clutch, when we accidentally whiskey throttled, the front brake is not going to help us and we probably no longer have our foot on the back brake, we can only blame ourselves for ignoring the extreme importance of mastering the clutch, of always covering it.
@crosstrainingenduro

It definitely makes a difference.... along with covering the rear brake. In our group I don't think we've backflipped a bike for years after getting the hang of this.

xtrainer velvet smooth throttle way better than freeride 350 ,very good tip using the clutch to moderate wheelies up hill ,I learn,t throttle control in the very early 90,s on a 1000cc road race bike with nylon tires that would launch you sky high in a blink of an eye if you so much as looked at the throttle wrong LOL

I fitted a G2 Throttle tamer to my 175hp Aprilia when I first bought it, as it was very responsive on the throttle to the point of being jerky. ( Yes I ride a road bike and I love it) . The G2 made for smoother riding in general and helped especially on fast corner exits without a need for incontinence pads. After a while your hand to brain sensitivity increases sufficiently to the point where the throttle starts to feel lazy. At this point you remove the throttle tamer and your good to go with perhaps just a little more neuron refinement. Definitely shortens the learning curve.

+v4magic you dont need to spend money. Take the stock throttle tube off, grind or file the first part to reduce the throttle cam. Glue a thin cable tie with jb weld, araldite or even plumbers glue on the 2nd half. Clean it up and install, then adjust your cable. Done! I dont reccomend this on peaky engines

+CROSS TRAINING, ENDUROCROSS & ENDURO TECHNIQUE.yes ,before the response was very snatchy and felt to light.I found on braking bumps the throttle would bounce open and cause the bike to shoot forward.I found the mid cam calmed this right down,the slower cam was to slow.during the summer I wanted to work on my slow wheelies so put the stock g2 cam back in to give it a bit more kick and found it to be not as bad as before, but not sure if this is because I'm used to the stupid power of the orange bulldozer or the cam shape.
