Like a lot of manufacturers Sherco seemed pretty dodgy with some of the claims... especially claiming their four stroke 300 was lighter than the 300 two stroke lol. I think they are playing it safe now and just not publishing them? They have slowly lost a bit of weight over the years but generally just a bit heavier than the KTMs and Betas. But lighter than the Rieju.

I've been a Shinko guy for years. I recently started racing (hare scrambles) and felt I was loosing time from wheel spin and clogging. The tire is great and will still use for rocks and roots, but the 505 knob pattern is too tight for the amount of mud we see. Yes, I know the 525 is more open, but I decided to try the IRC JX8 gummy for the next race. I'll give an update after the race.

The Rocky Mountain Dirt riders and the Second Gear club are massive in Southern Alberta. They both work with the government, provide maintenance to riding areas, host competition, and have a big social media presence. I think social media has played a positive roll to strengthen these groups, just being able to communicate more effectively has helped and enabled the groups to run efficiently and grow their numbers.

@@crosstrainingenduro with the dirt riders club nights are insane. There's a minimum 15 to 20 riders usually, they also support the local racing as well as local trail maintenance. I think the secret to their success is they embraced social media and use it to their advantage. How are Motoz, either mountain or arena, doing in the mud? I've tried a gummy rear from michelin and it really didn't suit me. It was so squirmy, that I've had very hard time feeling the back. It had poor traction in the mud and on my road transfers, it was hard to lean over and unstable. Incidentally, as long as I feathered the gas, it wouldn't get much eaten up, even on asphalt.

Worth looking at even if you are overseas. Free international postage and the Aussie dollar is pretty low compared to the greenback.

I'm not sure that the graphic about center of gravity is correct. When sitting almost all the rider's weight is on the saddle. Standing, it’s all on the pegs. The legs are significantly lower than the saddle. Therefore the moment-arm is shorter and the CG is lower.
@crosstrainingenduro3 күн бұрын
Lots of debates online, Michael. I've seen some pretty complex arguments from riders with a physics angle and the occasional equation lol. If I redo this video at some point I would probably now say there are at least two contrasting opinions about it all and summarise both...
@donnavella8243 күн бұрын
@@crosstrainingenduro I can see an opposing argument; that being that if you're standing and clutching the bike with your knees and hands, then the CG will be higher. However, I'm pretty sure that if you are maintaining a vertical (to the ground) riding position and not death gripping the bars, that your CG all be lower. Thanks for your response!
