Hello! Fellow potter here, and I had a question I figured you maybe could answer! Do you feel like pieces that are not glazed on the outside (like just raw clay) are more breakable at all? I’ve always used light clays and done a clear glaze over everything but recently started using speckled clay and prefer how it looks without the clear. But Wondering if the handles or underglaze designs would be less durable without the clear glaze over it. Love your work and watching your vids in the studio ❤

When you have a Clay body that looks and feels amazing it's a win win...when making functional pieces..intended for food ...staining and sanitation is an issue...so some potters choose to glaze the inside of a pot...in that case the glaze needs to be tested for "fit"for example a mug that glazed only on the inside may experience extreme tension when hot or very cold liquids are poured in...and way before the stress cracks will happen during the glaze kiln cooling cycle....may not be dishwasher safe. If making decorative work just fire to the recommended matured temp for strength.

just came around to watch this vlog. just what I needed. And I have to ask: you always wear such cute clothing, are you that kind of gal who thinks 'it's cute I wanna wear it no matter what' or are you the kind of gal who gets annoyed with herself because she forgot making ceramics isn't a clean job? I work with children in an elementary school and

Totally agree - I feel like I usually wear whatever I want / feel cute in because otherwise I’d never get a chance to wear it as I’m in the studio almost every day!!! 💕 the exception being a couple of white dresses I haven’t worn to the studio yet bc I am a bit scared ahha 😂

@@fromtreetosea I can relate to the exception 😂 I think you approach subconsciously led me to my approach. Also seeing all these artist wearing all these cute outfits not depending on getting dirty or smudged helped me. Clothes are to be worn.

I don’t see, do you have a personal stamp?
@fromtreetosea
@fromtreetosea 11 ай бұрын
I do! I just don’t stamp until bone dry or sometimes when it’s been bisqued because it’s an underglaze stamp :-)
