This video has motivated me to become that good Gio player that brings people back to Sajam to say sorry to him.

I want to fight a good Giovanna, but the last 13 matches I had were 1 Potemkin, 1 Ram, and 11 Sols.

Hey I wanted to say that your discord LFG group is really great. I joined for Strive and while it seems most play on PC, I found some good people and matches on PS. I still got bodied most of the time (floor 6 gang) but it's fun to learn and people being chill.

I normally am not awake when you stream, but I fought a giovanna that dumpstered me today and I felt compelled to apologize to you, daisuke, my mom, and whatever god I pissed off to deserve that unholy beatdown.

What's truly astronomical is the number of times I was going to throw my opponent on wakeup, but got thrown instead.

Dude the line about running into a good Giovanna is so fucking true lmao her close slash pressure is a LOT like sols pressure game but WAY more fucked up imo. The thing I've noticed tho is Giovanna players are currently just getting away with murder online because nobody knows how much of her kit loses to 6P.

I think it's super duper dope that you take the core concept of whatever you're teaching and then ALSO frame it in the context of the rest of the game. Especially when you're new, it becomes kind of easy to tunnel vision on a single mechanic and think of it as the be all end all solution to something when that simply isn't the case. But a new player can't really be faulted for thinking that way because they just aren't aware of everything that exists in the game. Showing the counters to air throws and how it can eventually evolve into mind games of "what will my opponent do after they RC when I jump" is taking the learning portion an extra step forward. I think you do an incredible job at concisely explaining the concept of a mechanic and then showing how it can properly be used instead of spammed. Unironically, 'damn he's good'

I'm on PS5 hovering between floors 9/10 in US West and actually don't see a whole lot of Sols. It depends on the time of day, but it typically cycles between May, Gio, and Ky as the most common characters.

I like going for throws once or twice in a row as Potemkin, because when they think I'm gonna throw them a third time I just kara Pot Buster them from just out of their range.

I literally couldn't get out of Floor 9 because I suck at know when to throw and in turn I get thrown ALOT. Edit and after watching this holy hell. I get thrown because I get on them to pressure after knowdown and never jump or back dash. You my guy have save my life lol 😆

Opponents waking up with throws are the bane of my existence. Gonna steal that Giovanna combo and start baiting more. Also at this point I'd be happy to fight more Sols. 8/10 matches on PC EU are Ramlethal.

Also moves that make your character short hop are great for avoiding wake up throws.

I remember bullying a Anji by spamming Charged Stun Edge->dash-> grab for an entire match. The next game when i dashed, i threw out 2D since i conditioned him

Throws are very strong. I'm used to DBFZ where you can try to break basically every throw, fun adjustments to make learning a new game. I think I like the mindgames and layers going on when it comes to throw in this game.

Hi Sajam, thanks for making these educational videos. I'd like to get your opinion on I-No if possible, what do you think about her? She's taken me to Celestial but I feel like she struggles a lot with getting out of pressure. I noticed Chemical Love misses most of the cast as well. I have a lot of trouble getting out of pressure from May, Ramlethal and Giovanna players. When I think it's my turn, its not, and my moves come out too slow to punish. :(

I have fought some pretty tight Gios. I had to learn to block a lot...and find them openings. All like 2 or 3 of em lol WE BLOCKING IN THIS HOUSE

You don’t even really need to bait throws anymore, cuz throws are 2f startup instead of instant, so if you meaty them they just get CH, plus the old GG reliable of “don’t be right next to them for a meaty and they can’t throw you” still works. A hard bait just kinda gives the opponent room to escape if they didn’t throw

You know, I'd legitimately never considered how powerful backdashing is as a pressure option off of a hard knockdown. It'll lose to reversals and people who mash on wakeup, but especially if you've conditioned a throw, getting a free counter hit into a c.S combo on most characters is monstrous. I'm just imagining the bomber loops on my Axl rn. It plays double fiddle as being an excellent time to burst bait, cause people are more likely to burst when they panic or are frustrated. Getting thrown a bunch, trying to counter it with a wakeup throw and hearing COUNTER as the enemy starts their highest damage combo... yeah, that's a burst.

I have played a combined 50 games of strive and somehow have yet to fight a sol player at all. I got a Faust mirror before fighting a sol.

This was 100% what I was struggling last night on. Meaty timings seem very specific and getting tossed on wake up feels so bad. Can a well timed meaty grab beat wake up grab? Or is that not a thing?

If you see a throw coming, why wouldn't you just jump instead of going for a throw tech? Worst case you eat a button if you were wrong. But if you were right, you jump over their throw whiff and get a punish. If you go for throw tech it just seems like you put yourself at risk for a neutral outcome at best (teching the throw).

It's interresting to me that everyone says the encounter sol players en masse because i'ver barely gotten any sol mirror matches. Maybe other sol players avoid the mirror match? I'm just sitting in training mode between matches and fight whoever pops up, and it's not a lot of sol players who pop up.

How long do you have to brake a throw?

All the Sol players just means you get the opportunity to get more practice against Sol. If a particular character is giving you trouble, you should be fighting them more than anybody else to get comfortable with the match up and their options.

So its possible to shimmy bait a throw in this game? Or is it better to backdash like sol?.. or do we just choose depending on character ability / walk speed / backdash... I have to keep reminding myself that throw is on dust now.. I keep trying to press 2 buttons like granblue

*Laughs in infinite throws* In order to do infinite throws you have to throw frame perfect in a corner to be considered as a combo. We call this *m e a t* which allows infinite throws but very punishable if messed up.

I guess that when the day comes and they nerf sol along with whatever other characters in some patch in the future it will come with the positive of not having to hear people say anything about the character we like to play. Or people will find something else to complay Idk

I think how throws work is the worst part of all the Guilty Gears experience for me. Attacks like this should not beat normal buttons or give free presure because of the knockdown.

Sajam's insecurity not letting him understand that the guy at the end wasn't complaining about Sol. He was saying that everyone has started doing it, not just Sol players like Sajam insinuated. Great info nonetheless tho lmao
