you arent supposed to use that stick alone, its designed to be used with the thrustmaster pedals, hence no yaw.

It says Air Force because they sponsored it and use it for training. It's not for casual gaming. It was made for serious flight sims, DCS A10 being one of them.

"Too many buttons for a flight sim!". Son, you can N E V E R have too many buttons. I am in the same situation, the x52 is a better designed interface for elite dangerous but for me the build quality of the Warthog trumped having yaw on the stick. For sure I want my cake and to eat it too but for now the Warthog won out for me. With a little creativity (and some 10 year old programs...) you can really make use of all the additional buttons and switches on the Warthog, it takes some setting up but if you're into games like this I'm gonna take it that you enjoy setting these things up, its part of the fun. Right now my warthog setup is near perfect, if a really high quality stick with yaw built in appeared I would buy it but I really can't see myself replacing the throttle with anything else.

I am thrilled, and can't wait to play E:D, DCS, SCA big plus for not having the twist yaw is that the stick is a lot sturdier since there isn't a rotate axis at the base of the stick suffering from accidental input. Rudder pedals take a little getting used to, but are well worth it if you fly Falcon BMS, DCS, X-Plane, etc as well

The reason it says "US Air Force" Is because it's licenced by USAF.

I would consider getting some Saitek Flight Pedals to supplement your Warthog. I have this setup and I guarantee it definitely increases your immersion, it really feels like your flying your ship when you can use the pedals to yaw, and vertical thrust up and down

I went for the Logitech G/Saitek X56 due to the price of the Warthog but I'm glad to see a review on it. The Warthog looks overall better made but since I'm not running a proper flight sim rig and hadn't planned on getting the foot pedals, I didn't want to spend $500 on a HOTAS. I'm very happy with the X56 though, my only complaint is that the thumb joysticks on both throttle and stick don't always return to exact center, leading to my spacecraft sometimes drifting a little.

I bought Warthog because I can't stand twist on the stick. I admit Warthog was uncomfortable until I got pedals too. Now I am super-happy. Flying feels completely natural, no need to fight with the joystick, no axis bleed, perfect precise control. Not having a twist is actually a boon for me. :) Just so that you have a different opinion.

Using this for Elite Dangerous is like using an F1 for a street race. This was made for flight sims like DCS.

February 2015, I was lucky enough to get one and unbox it I remember i was sooo giddy and then hooked it up and voila worked like a charm and has ever since I have 978 Hrs in D.C.S. alone.

Try DCS:A-10C, this stick was made for that simulation. :)

Coming from x-52 pro (E:D, Star Citizen, DCS World, ArmA 2/3), purchased x55 as an upgrade, and was devastated with x55 build quality - complete crap compared to x52 pro. No "ghost switches" in my unit, but loosy throttle lock, jiggly hats, etc. Lucky for me, shop accepted return with no questions and i decided to check warthog. That price however... and here i am, waiting for hotas warthog delivery.

What I typically do (I have an X52) is use my Logitech driving for GT pedals as rudder, it's not the same feeling but it works for me

Will last for for YEARS. 3 hats on the joystick for me are head turn, scanners and FCO thrusters. the grey thumb is weapon/ group select, the pinky lever is turboboost, the pinky button is stealth. The trigger is dogfight weapon, the read 2nd weapon is limpet.

I'm using foot pedals as my yaw control. It can be binded side to side as well as rolling. One of the nicer additions to my space sim setup

If you want yaw just get a set of kickass pedals from Slaw Device. Best pedals out there (pretty much all metal like your hog setup). Also you really need to strip the hog stick and replace the silicone grease. There are a bunch of websites that tell you how to do it and it makes the stick TONS better. Retail Hog is good. Regressed is better.

This should be the ultimate stick and throttle, apart from the lack of yaw function on the stick. Sadly, my brand new copy failed within three days. On the first day, the otherwise lovely stick started to suffer from stiction. This is pretty much an instant deal-kill for a flight stick, as precise flight adjustments is rendered either very difficult or close to impossible. On day three after purchase, one of the hugely enjoyable radio switches on the throttle snapped off and fell into the body of the unit! That was it...straight back to Amazon! The only other high-end metal stick was the Saitek x65 HOTAS. This had just gone out of production but was still selling for normal retail prices (just a bit cheaper than the Warthog in fact). The X65 had a shaky reputation however, with complaints about jittery axis control and over-stiff throttle action. My first copy from amazon had a loose stick (it should be totally impossible to move!), and very stiff throttle....and it was covered in finger prints and skin flakes. Back it went! My second copy was factory fresh, with an immovable stick and silky smooth throttle and, after setting up the dead-zones carefully, the x65 quickly became one of the best sticks I'd used. So good in fact that I sold my Sidewinder FFB stick. The main issue with the stick was that the dead zones needed re-calibrating every three days or so on Windows 8.1, and this became a major pain. Now, on Windows 10, the dead zones seem to be completely stable, making Elite Dangerous and combat flight sims a breeze to play. If you can find a good copy of the x65, it's very much worth a look.

ARRGH. Been up all night and saw this video in my current vids list and though it was from this week. I'm an idiot (but so is KZfaq for throwing it up for me hehe). So sorry for tubeRezzing and being such a Hogstick fan. Mind you, they used a Hog on The Expanse SyFi series too... even with the yellow arrows to show you which way to plug the stick into the base.

I just bought a used on Ebay for $250. I'm using it for Star Citizen and I love it. Not having the yaw on the stick does suck though however, I'm going to get the pedals to fix this issue.

I have to agree with you, Saitek isnt what this is. Made of Aluminium (yes im from Europe) and it has the feel to it, Saitek on the other hand doesent (Have both of em) :) Good Unbox :)

good review, i have an X55 but with all the ghost button problems am thinking of switching to the warthog. For yaw, foot controls seem to be the way to go.

With Elite being around for a while and Star Citizen on its way we certainly could use more HOTAS options! I would really like the X52 with the build quality of the Warthog.

I have a TM T500RS for my racing sim and everything is top notch! Only gripe is the fan can be loud and not smooth lol. Looking to mod it, probably a simple fix but for 500 bucks it shouldn't do that lawl.

Idk why you would get this for a space sim. Probably best for a flight sim like DCS, Xplane, etc. From a flight sim point of view, its perfect. From a space sim view, seems like overkill with all the buttons nobs, and what have you. Which it is for space sims IMO.

I want to buy HOTAS Warthog but I can not use Rudder Pedals for different reasons. Is there a way to fly with HOTAS Warthog and somehow assign rudder control in a different way than rudder pedals? I love to fly missions in DCS: A-10C Warthog :)

Hi guys. I just bought the Thrustmaster16000 flight stick. Is it possible to operate a throttle from a different manufactor with the flightstick? I don't wanna buy the Thrustmaster throttle. Its ergonomics seems way off..

Wow...~$400 for a flight stick with no yaw, a throttle with a rap load of toggle switches, and no pedals...just doesn't seems worth it IMHO
