We all had to carry skates at some point. What's the best way to carry them? If you like Thundrblade, please buy me a coffee so I can keep working on it www.ko-fi.com/thundrblade

I use a large belt hooked through the two rear 'handles' of my skates and wear the belt on my shoulder like a satchel, the skates resting on the opposite side of my waist. I can still wear my small, light rucksack (room enough for water and shoes) and it doesn't add as much weight when compared to strapping my skates onto a large rucksack. Other advantages include being able to hold on to the belt or skates to reduce the weight significantly while walking, the great convenience of being able to take the skates off very easily, especially when on crowded public transport or when storing them in the office and, of course, the cheap price. I recommend using a belt that's at least 40 inches and is stretchy and made mostly of polyester. :-)

As soon as you mentioned the carry on, I had to pause and try it. They fit perfectly (width and length) and only take up one side so I can still get clothes in there. Guess I'll be skating on all my business trips now. :)

If it's summer time, get a bumbag, wear flip flops and put your skates in a large shopping bag. When it's time to skate simply put your skates on, fold up the shopping bag and put it in the bumbag. Attach the flip flops to the bumbag, by threading the bumbag strap through the flip flops and off you go! A simple, cheap, lightweight solution that won't interfere with your balance too much.

My trick is 2 elastic headbands and an ergonomic Vaude backpack with many possibilities to attach straps and stuff. Inline skating backpacks may be nice for attaching skates conveniently but skates are heavy and so I prefer a good ergonomic backpack with improvised skate straps. At least until an ergonomic inline backpack will appear on the market ...

Just my method... one caribiner on each rollerblade (that stays.) And a paracord bracelet to clip them both together and to use as a handle when you need to carry them. when your wearing them you wear the bracelet on your wrist. This way your hands are always free. Just how I do things. Great video.
@APOKLLYPZ8 жыл бұрын
you could also just use the velcro strap and high ankle plastic strap to strap them on each side of any kind of backpack with 2 straps, they just hang on the sides without moving too much, and if you strap them tight enough you don't really need the wheel covers

thx for the suggestion. I will try and maybe do an updated video with the suggestions.

I use two small car binners to carry my skates. I just attach a single skate in each strap of my regular backpack and they hang at the high of my hips...

I was just browsing through inline skate videos because I have been re-reading Air Gear. Also just a few weeks ago, I came across such a thing as boosted board because of watching Casey Neistat vlogs, which made me wonder if there are people doing the same thing to inline skates already. Damn. Air Trecks are being realized now!

I used to be a member of a site called "The Air Trek Dream", which was dedicated to bringing the greatest minds together to try and realise the concepts in Air Gear. A lot of prototypes have been made, and there's a lot of methods people have used to make them. I don't know what they're doing now, but by the time I left it seemed as though they were just a few steps off from finalising the goal

Thanks a lot, this was really informative. I used to put my skakes in the backpack, but then I can't carry anything else around with me. I also really like your hack with the suitcase, because I already melted the wheels of two suitcases. I would like to see a video on how you made it (it you already made that I will find it, did not yet search for it).
@Thundrblade7 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful. The suitcase mod depends heavily on the suitcase itself. Some will be easier than others. This particular one was VERY easy since the wheels axle was already 8mm which is the same as skate bearings. I just had to take off the plastic wheels and replace them with some old 76mm 80A wheels I had lying around. Other suitcase I modded required drilling a hole, putting a new axle and epoxying some stuff in place. So get creative. Put the biggest wheels you can, but 80mm and up works fine for most surfaces.

I just put the inline skates in an ikea bag (or any other solid big plastic bag) and then carry a very small empty backpack. When I want to skate, i put my light-weighted shoes in my small backpack, wear my inline-skates, then fold the ikea/big bag and also put it in backpack. The bag pack is the size of an A4 paper.
@Thundrblade5 жыл бұрын
That´s definitely a good and lightweight solution, only downside is that you would need to carry them with your hands. I like having my hands free to use my phone or to get a metro card or fight ninjas XD

Caribiner can clip your skates together, but at the same time, you can interlock your wrist guards & anything like that, and strap them in there as well. Hmmm.... so, what kind of E-skates are those! Dammmm! I’ve never seen those, can it go up hills? Do they have brakes & how fast, how long is charge on what kind of battery? Do they recharge as you skate?

Skates that have a velcro strap can be used like this as well. I have carried my aggressive skates like this for years. All the info for thundrblade is on the indiegogo campaign page which is closed, but you can read everything there.

I don't know about 4x110mm though. you could talk to the seller to make sure.

What boots you’re using? Seems interesting. Like the doop skates boots but much better quality
@Thundrblade6 жыл бұрын
These on this video are the OXELO SNEAK-IN, they are available in Europe by DECATHLON. here's a review on them: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLqFesmG196skps.html They are actually lower quality components than a doop boot from POWERSLIDE. I like the design a lot though. If they were a little more padded. The main difference point is the adjustability: doops have only 2 sizes, are higly adjustable and fits everyone. Sneak-in have fixed shoes sizes and the boots are not adjustable.

How can i convert my regular backpack to a skates special backpack?!
@Thundrblade6 жыл бұрын
You could try to attach some straps to the sides of the backpack. Like the backpack from inlinewarehouse on 1:50 I recommend getting a backpack made for it as it will handle the weight better with reinforced sewing and tougher materials.

how do I attach them to my backpack not Inside
@Thundrblade8 жыл бұрын
There's several different backpacks. I showed 2 that have straps designed to do that. So you will need a skate carrying backpack, or you could DIY something.
@ShadowRose8 жыл бұрын
Best way to carry your blades is on your feet. Guard won't let you go inside a shop to get some water? Screw him, just go inside, take what you need a roll out as if nothing particular happened. If you're skilled enough to go between the shelves and stuff without breaking anything, of course. For the short trips backpack is sufficient enough, and the carbine will do for pure minimalists and for very short travel distances on foot.
@Thundrblade8 жыл бұрын

Sorry for irreverent question to the video but I've been wanting to start skating as a hobby but I don't know where to start? there's so many types of wheels and different skates like inline and the other one I forgot...its all very confusing.. sorry for the bad grammar 😅
@Thundrblade7 жыл бұрын
well, there's a lot of videos about it, but first try to find out what you want to do on skates: exercise, transportation, leisure, tricks. dancing, artistic, racing, derby, downhill, off-road, etc. After you find out that, then you choose your skates. There's 2 major kinds: Inline and Quads. To start off, mostly any skate that is comfortable, do hurt your feet and cheap will do for you to learn. then later on you can get a specific for what you want to do.
@lol516797 жыл бұрын
ThundrBlade thank you so much for the reply!!
@violetabautista52917 жыл бұрын
Teresa ! hey, I started almost half-year ago, I started by using inline freestyle skates. If you can, try both, inline and quads so you can decide in wich one you feel more confortable and balance. Here in my country you can rent them so it was easier for me to know what kind of skate I liked the most. also, I think is better to start with the freestyle type, and then after you learn and see what you like, you can buy another pair but for a certain purpose. good luck, :) it's scary the first couple of times but it's totally worth it. I love it.
