Tick Creek Ranch

Жыл бұрын

Welcome to Tick Creek Ranch. This channel was created to show the daily ins and outs of life on a small ranch. We are a family of eight, our lifestyle has taken us from the deserts of Idaho to the wilds of Alaska and back to the lower 48. We followed our dreams and finally settled in the Ozark’s of Missouri. We have owned and operated our own businesses over the years, ranging from carpentry and excavation to commercial and residential landscape. The children and ourselves have developed a passion for learning new skills which include leather work, welding and fabricating, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting, equipment operation, timber sawing, blacksmithing, horseshoeing, flatwork and concrete, timber framing, cattle ranching, horse training, and many more. Please follow along on this journey as we build our new home and delve into the ways of regenerative ranching. So stick around and watch us create our dream using old world construction techniques and style reminiscent of an era gone by. Thank you and enjoy the journey.

May I inquire where (what state, not location specific ) this is? Sadly, I so need one of these badly where I live(FL) but no possible way due to sea level preventing. So decided to move as I can’t handle it anymore. Open to any safe state. Thank you! Oh! Excuse me, I forgot to say congratulations as your amazing! Wonderful construction!

@@treegallagher9562 We are located in the Missouri Ozarks. Good people who love freedom and an old way of living but, don’t want and won’t let outsiders change their way of life here. Must assimilate if a person moves here. It’s still let’s say, a little wild here…oh, and lots of ticks:)

Common storm shelter style from the 1930s. If worried about tornadoes, you need a bunker. Anything less, the tornado can tear apart. Tornadoes have been known to peel asphalt right off a good condition road.

I realize "TO EACH HIS OWN" but I would have treated the wood with at least roofing tar before I put the tar paper on and I would have put a silcone in the joints to prevent water from getting to the insulation and wood. Also, I would have put another wraping of tar paper over the insulation. Still all considered, You did a good job.

Great build, guys. I'm generally 100% metric when I do anything (that's one-hundred-and-eleventy percent in Imperial.... 😉) but I do love the penny nail system. It's deeply rooted in British history and even further back. The "d" symbol is used for penny (and was still used for British currency until 1971) because is was shorthand for "denarius", dating back to Roman times. But it goes back even further when you consider that the penny system *almost* runs in Base 12, which pushes it back as far as ancient Babylon. Also the reason we count time the way we do! Fascinating.
