1) take the tops off all your jacks and fill the cavity with grease. pump some in the zerk fittings too. 2) mig down hill will give a better look. 3) if you have any play in your coupler. put some thin washers between the coupler and the channel. 4) put a piece of c-channel over the break away switch.

The big narly D rings look great. That guy did you a big favor. Now get an army tank chain and throw it over the log and the Law will let you alone. I got my tank chains surplus new on ebay several years ago for $45.00 each and gave away several as gifts. Yep!

If you put two jacks on the front corners you could use them for changing tires, etc.

The one jack in the back is enough to lift the entire side enough to get at both tires.

Wow!! Love it . One thing you should have done on the wiring is the fuse box instead of the junction box. The difference is, if a short happens it will take out the fuse on the trailer. It provides protection to the truck lights.

Vertical down with MIG will typically give you a much cleaner weld. What a great trailer you've built!

D rings that will hold your trailer, a full load of logs, your truck, your skid steer, and probably the bandsaw mill and most of the kit in your shop.

It's awesome seeing you finish this. It seems like you've been working on it for a year now. All of us "start stoppers" could probably take a lesson from you on persistence.

That trailer has been an epic project Matt, and you've done a marvelous job with it. KUDOS As a side note, having just gone shopping for a cargo trailer for my dad - after watching you build this - I felt like I was looking at toys with 7000# GVWRs (he didn't want to go up to a 9990#, oh well) They just aren't built commercially like yours is.

Squirt some PAM Cooking spray into your MIG nozzle, prevents the spatter from sticking. Clean off spatter every once in a while, respray PAM and continue welding....

I look at your subscribers and think back when I myself subscribed. You were looking to hit twenty thousand at that time... I may be wrong but that number sticks out in my head. I hope that the next video is the painting and remembering that you need to weld a secured tool box for clevises and tools, maybe a spare light bulb if you think its necessary plus when done, you have the logs now to test just how much better it will lift. The old trailer can haul equipment and lumber... You still might have to install a tail roll for large logs to drift on when loading... paint them both. Paint name of business on them too

Use your mag drill with your carbide endmill in the drill chuck. As long as it is a center cutting in Mill, it will drill that hole nicely. In addition to that the carbide can actually cut the high-speed steel that is broken off from the previous tool. Fair warning if anything comes loose in the hole you will probably end up with a broken endmill. I do love watching your channel.

You have this awesome 4 bolt welded plate of 1/4 steel to mount the jack and then the 'height adjuster pin' is like this single puny 5/16 looking thing. I wonder which breaks first, the jack or the mounting? That trailer is a monster masterpiece! Those D rings ... :-) Love your vids and not hiding the 'whoops' moments, very human and makes us all feel a bit more normal and less discouraged at our own fubars.

There is a chuck that goes on the impact. You tighten by hand, no chuck key. I used one for years on 3/8 taps for big construction jobs. Sometimes I had hundreds of holes to do.

I like your videos and I want to encourage you and tell you that you're doing great. There are a lot of people out there that don't get off of their asses and have never done this much of a project in their life. So I wouldn't take much criticism from them. I do want to recommend that when you drill holes in your tubing, don't have a lot of confidence in tapping the hole and expecting it to be a long term solid fix that you can torque to specs. The reason is because the steel is not heat treated to the same degree as a nut or bolt. So if you're putting a lot of torque to it, it can strip out rather easily. It would be better to take a little more time and weld a nut on the inside to the interior of the tubing and then the bolt can hold the torque much better and won't strip as easily. Since you are using those outriggers to brace the trailer for lifting, and inevitable that being a dangerous activity if the bolts strip out and the trailer were to shift violently it could damage property or cause injury. Don't be so hard on yourself and don't let people rent space in your head.

slow down on the edges of your vertical welds to "burn" into the walls and quick in the center to keep the weld from building up to much.

Matt I would weld something on the bottom of those jack feet to keep them from bending like your old ones. As they sink into the soft ground they have bent the foot.

The bent feet are the result of being pressed into the sawmill while I'm winching logs off. I have some blocking that I put down when lifting on soft ground

Matt, it maybe a few days late and $100’s short, but mount your break away brake box where it will be protected by the trailer frame if at all possible. I know the pin needs some clear linear travel for it to function, but I have seen many many busted because they are exposed. Build is looking good. I enjoy this series.

On the vertical mig - slow down on you travel, let the puddle fill the path up to desired width. Gets rid of undercutting also. Stick looking real good though. Takes time and practice. Trailer coming along nicely. Looking to see finished product and its true weight when done! Monster...

Hi Matt I watched each episode of your trailer build. In Mig welding Vertical and on mild steel such as you're welding on. You can weld downward instead of upward on the mig. Continue the side to side just pause on the sides. You can look at videos on weld.com. That is a great reference. Hope this helps. Really enjoy your videos.

i added checker plate strips with pointed bolts welded to it on our trailer for transporting logs, keeps them in place and secure, if you gunna keep a smooth deck you might want to think of a way to stop slipping, my other idea was to add sand into the paint for the deck, might try that next lose some weight from the strips...

Before you Tap the holes give the hole a small counter sink , it makes it easier to tap and easier to put the screw in .

Once you get familiar with the MIG you will never use a rod again. You were too fast on your mig welds. They will look just like your stick welds. Turn up the heat and slow down. You do have some good looking stick welds , that I will give you some credit.

When you were welding the stake pockets on yo were welding from bottom to top, when welding vertically it is much easier to weld from top to bottom. You may not be able to see your weld as easy but they will turn out much better. :)

Koality of Life Homestead I agree, top to bottom is much easier and produces far superior results. I angle the gun up at about a 22 degree angle and move just fast enough to keep a nice oval puddle.
