At the Druid Camp, you meet a tiefling girl who is struggling to complete a song about her lost mentor, called The Weeping Dawn.

Well to be fair, she's kinda shrill when she's practicing. Her timidity about the lyrics is wrecking her pitch until she puts it all together.

You have to have speak with Animals active, but yeah. If you say the right thing as a bard they try to make a better song they both start doing a little jig dance to.

Yea, not gonna lie, when the song really began my jaw dropped and I did tear up a bit, seriously wasnt expecting that.

There's such an intricacy to the lyrics too. Because the line "Moon reminds me of your grace" ends in the "ace" sound, halfway through the next line you star to anticipate "All the love I can't replace." But she breaks the rhyme scheme and pivots slightly, choosing "All the love I can't repay." The change is almost symbolic, like she was going to focus on her grief, her loss, which would be normal. Instead she chooses to regret that she can't give back the love she received anymore, to be grateful for the time they had together. Breaking from the standard rhyme takes you in a despairing direction only to pull you out at the last second. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it may be the most clever piece of lyrical artistry I've ever heard.

Yea it's an advanced technique that doesn't even get enough appreciation or coverage, especially given the shit poetry we have today that shouldn't even be called poetry. But the technique isn't even appreciated by poetry enthusiasts because the sillies think only full rhyme is proper. I tried explaining this very thing to my friend who was up in arms about the use of repay over replace and she wouldn't hear it.

Imagine having unlockable songs in the game only if you take her as a companion and act a certain way during certain quests. Instant replayability.

let's be honest, from the base classes their is multiple missing classes in the companion, a companion need to have an interesting backstory and it's likely that this companion will be in the early area of the game. bard being one of these classes AND this character having an interesting backstory (writing the song and what exactly happened to his teacher / vengeance for his teacher). their is NO way this wouldn't be the bard companion.

@@kalzhae I heard something about how there was a halfling or something that was going to be the bard companion from datamining. I seriously hope this isn't the case because it would be a seriously wasted opportunity if Alfira was just left by the wayside like that.

I love this game so much! Reminds me of Lohse singing after recovering her voice. I couldn’t agree with you more, I heavily recommend Divinity Original Sin 2 for any who hasn’t played it! Baldur’s Gate 3 too for that matter, though it sounds like it’s going to be in early access for a while.

The full release of the game saw a redo of the song. I have heard it at least 10 times now and I can tell you that the few minor mistakes made in this rendition are gone and she sounds a lot better. I'm not saying she sounds bad here it's beautiful but from a technical perspective there are mistakes and some flat moments and the newer version is simply incredible.

I so desperately want to play my Divine Soul Sorcerer / Hexblade Warlock :( I loved Jasaad. He was my favorite character by far. Not just because of the combo, but the adventures I had with him. Cherished memories.

@@kaenidragaenmond3544 I don't have this and I am on Xbox so I won't have access to it for some time as we don't even have a release date as the Series S has screwed us over again due to it being under powered and microsoft insists on the Series X & S both have the same feature if they just let Larian release the game for the Series S minus the coop mode Xbox would be getting the game along side PlayStation.

I've met her...and I've failed to keep her safe in my own solo playthrough...and it hurts...so bad...her story sucks...not because it's poorly written...but because it's written too well. And I'm too invested. And it broke my heart to lose her at the Last Light Inn.

Only thing that ,iises me is i miss this event, many great things are like kind of hiddent in this game, and this one dissapears after you advance in story, this is not good .

Its actually a good thing. Listen, I know people are uses to the Bethesda way of doing everything in one run but that made in the end every run look similar and I cant remember my characters in them. Here because of all the secrets and weird paths opening and closing each run feels different. In a way going to different experiences will shape your character differently. I am in the middle of the 3rd run now after 80 hours in this game. And it feels there is so much I can do more. And that is just the first act!

Ah, I thank you for this... I just listened to the horrible singing and walked away. Can go back and enjoy the sidequest for what it is. And the D:OS II soundtrack is pretty good, now I listen to it. Think it's an omage to the composer of the original D:OS soundtrack (who passed away in 2015)?
