This happened to my mom as well. She was also very active at the time, going to Zumba twice a week. She had the same behind the ear pain, that's a very common early sign. The whole thing just avalanches though, out of nowhere my mom's left side dropped down a bit. It wasnt the worst ever, but my mom was always very pretty and the type of person that walks to the grocery and says hi to everyone so it was absolutely devastating for her confidence.. I would hug her and she would cry and cry.. I don't pray for myself very often, but those days I prayed everyday for my mom to get better and eventually after she traveled back home to Mexico (my parents have built a very comfortable life in their hometown over the years) she was able to get connected to the right neurologist and opthalmologists. A lot of American doctors just would say to wait it out pretty much, "oh it's stressed caused.. so try to relax." And the treatments offered would be expensive, $300 for steroid shots. Instead she was paying $20 a shot back home in Mexico and another $20 for professional physical therapy days.. she came back home and it was like she was brand new! A couple years have passed and it hasn't came back, but she avoids harsh changes in temperature, too much stress, and overexertion at her workouts just to be safe. Just a horrible thing to deal with, my mom luckily got better but she had to do a lot of treatment that others probably don't have the money or proper insurance for, and she had to travel to find top doctors she felt comfortable with . Just wanted to share her story for anyone that goes through it. It was just so awful because of how sad my mom was, how she avoided pictures whenever we had parties, how we had to buy her a couple new pairs of sunglasses so she'd go out with us . 😢 Just glad those days are a blur now.

Having a baby is serious business. A lot of medical issues arrive during and after pregnancy. My nurse said (while I was in the hospital for postpartum preeclampsia among other things) that, “it’s a time in a woman’s life where she is right on the doorstep between life and death.” I hope that she gets better. I know it also must have hurt a lot not to be able to smile at her baby. I hope that she can smile the biggest smiles in the future for all of the smiles that she missed giving.

I had bell's palsy and still have some issues. It gets better but I was told I'd never smile again. I eventually did when they took me off of the meds and I used cannabis salve to rub on my face. It helped the most. The pain though.... the physical pain is worst than childbirth. The ear pain. I still feel different on one side of my face. It just dropped just like that. I was a social butterfly until that happened. I had a baby years after that and a c section. Thankfully nothing happened. I wasn't depressed but it was because I had been depressed before that bc of bells. It was horrible. In the pandemic I felt better bc I could hide behind my mask and eyes with my glasses. It's just so painful.

My paternal cousin's wife got Bells Palsy after giving birth to her first daughter (and first child too) and was so embarrassed about it she refused to post any pictures with herself in them after the birth on social media. Eventually she got the courage to put a few pictures of herself on social media a few weeks postpartum to address her facial paralysis. She saw many doctors and tried different things to help her face be normal again to smile straight but it did little to help her smile without one side of her face drooping. She had another baby girl 2 years ago and it still was no better, just the same,so recently she had a plastic surgery to correct her face so she could smile straight again. When it first happened, she was so upset because it ruined her modeling career but afterwhile she was glad it happened so she could model for advocacy and awareness of Bells Palsy. Her name is Gladys Warden if anyone has heard of her. She has a blog called Steeltoes and Stilletoes on Facebook that she talks about her journey with Bells Palsy on.

And this couldn't wait...especially being closer to 50yrs of age seeking to secure a 💸Baby... No sympathy here, especially after seeing this one in Getty images with another married man Terry George. Poor late Rita George isn't here to say the torment this one caused her marriage, but Grace DeNiro can speak... It's not the best thing in the world. Sperm quality degrades with age: "A 2019 study determined that a father's age has a significant impact on a child's health and development. The study found that babies born to older fathers had an increased risk of cleft lip or palate, heart defects, autism, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Additional research suggests that advanced paternal age is moderately associated with the most common form of childhood leukemia and linked to a slightly elevated risk of pediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In 2018, researchers at Stanford University found that babies born to fathers ages 45 or older were 18% more likely to have seizures and 14% more likely to be born premature compared with babies born to fathers ages 25 to 34" - nbc news article

What a brave and admirable woman. She didn’t have to come out and share such private information, but for the benefit of others and helping spread awareness, she did the right thing to help end stigma in our world… the stigma of so many diseases that keep too many people at home. As a person who has had the experience of not only being housebound due to disease and disability, but has experienced the criticism (and professional discrimination) of “appearing” a certain way (when in truth, it’s not always easy to hide my disability)… I appreciate what she is doing for so many of us who are living through their own medical journeys and how she is (hopefully) fostering understanding and compassion for people who don’t know about these lived and breathed realities. Now, some family friends had a similar experience with Bells Palsy and they directed us to go to a family phyiscan who'd well known for successfully treating it. He did several accupuncture on her face, gave some phyiscal therapy exercises for her to do at home (at the beginning, we had to move the paralaysed side of her face with our hands for her), and he also gave her two different (and strong meds) compared to what she had before. One was an antiviral med if I remember correctly. Her sessions with him lasted 2-3 weeks, we went 3 times for the accupuncture in the first week, then we had 3 session in the follow two weeks. We saw improvement after the first 2 sessions. And she's completely free of it now. I highly recommend people check out this route. My mum has Bells Palsy during her second pregnancy and never got effective treatment for it.

Its a cold world I got BP and some people laughed at me. Its a cold world I say again but thankfully I have tough skin too. I was glad it was not a stroke. I hope God remembers the people that laughed at me and repays them but then again He weighs the hearts of man.

Tiffany, this hapoened to me. When I told doctors they would look the other way like I never said anything. They completely ignored me !! So I went into a healthfood store by chance and just happened to mention to the owner that my face was numb and had been for a YEAR AND A HALF !!! She immediately said it was my glands and had me take a multi gland supplement. I was completely better within days. I would go to a homeopath/natural medicine doctor. They know things that western medicine doesn't. Your baby is just gorgeous !!! CONGRATS to you and Robert !!! How lucky for you both !!! Much Aloha ❤

My husband contracted (?) Bell's on his right side on the evening of my birthday, 2 years ago. I thought his eye was looking a bit different, and over the evening it just got worse. I gave him the tests of a stroke to perform( I know the signs very well), and he passed all of those. We had no idea what it was, until the ER Doctor told us. 2 years later, he still has the look of it, tho not as bad. It bothers him a little, but not enough to hide away. He is still handsome to me🥰 Bravo to Tiffany, for not letting this define her. She is beautiful, and she has a wonderful man at her side.

Wow! What a brave, beautiful, & humble woman to share a story so private. I can’t imagine what she went through. Giving birth is already stressful and then to go through a disorder. I really respect this lady for doing this interview because she didn’t have to. There may be more women who has experienced what she did and also we can research more about the disorder since hers was not the typical symptoms. I wish this this beautiful family lots of happiness and baby girl knows mommy just by smell. She knows mommy loves her to the moon & back.

This happened to a friend of mine many years ago when we were in high school. She wore a pirate patch for awhile. It took awhile but her face eventually went back to normal. My first husband claimed that it happened to him long before we met and an acupuncturist fixed it in one treatment. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

First, I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your beautiful daughter. I recently viewed your interview with Gayle King regarding your experience with Bell’s palsy. I was also diagnosed with Bell’s palsy as well. Hearing your story brought tears to my eyes because you made the world aware of the emotional and physical struggle of this diagnosis. I have experienced hurtful comments about how I look, stares from strangers, and even being questioned if this would interfere with my job performance. You are beautiful, strong, and loved by all who struggle with Bell’s palsy. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I had Bell's Palsy when I was 9 years old. The most depressing time of my life. I go to therapy in the morning then I have to go to school in the afternoon. My classmates and teachers knows about it and the doctor who diagnosed me was shocked because not only I was his first patient with a Bell's Palsy, but also because I was very young. I still hate the left side of my face even though I had therapy. It's nice to hear someone talk about it. Good for her.
