The period of 1930 to 1950 saw only four World Cups due to the hiatus of World War 2. Tactically, though, despite the twenty-year span, tactical evolution occurred at a slower pace, marked by moments of innovation rather than the massive shifts that would come after 1950. This video covers the delicate tactical shifts that occurred during that 20 year period.

A couple of ideas: -Hungary side that dominated football -How were first division 1 and first prem teams chosen -How were first LA Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga, Ligue Un etc teams chosen -Bayerns treble wining side -Neverkusen -Red stars UCL wining side -Blackburns fall from grace
@pphyjynx8217
@pphyjynx8217 7 жыл бұрын
the prem teams were not chosen, they were just the division 1 sides in there when the league switched. it was really just a name change. the first division sides were not chosen, they were invited, lots of clubs were, only a few accepting, most teams were content with their local teams

Yes, that's the FIFA World Cup trophy instead, not the original Jules Rimet Trophy. The FIFA World Cup trophy was awarded to West Germany at the 1974 where the trophy made its first appearance. The Jules Rimet Trophy, in contrast, was kept by Brazil after their 1970 triumph as the idea was to award it permanently to the first country who won the WC three times.

Some 1930 World Cup trivia about Romania - in the first game against Peru, the Peruvians played very aggressively, injuring 3 Romanian players...and because the substitutions rule wasn't around until the '50s, Romania had to play with less players for most of the game. One of them returned to the field later on after resting a bit, and in the 70th minute one of Peru's players received the first-ever FIFA World Cup red card! After that, Romania managed to score two more times, winning 3-1!

I'm baffled that the narration of this piece, which obviously places a high value on historical precision, states that the fourth World Cup, in 1950, was "the first in which the Jules Rimet Cup was awarded to the winners." (4:40) Setting aside the glitch that (as others here have pointed out) the trophy shown at that point, in the video illustration, is •not• the Jules Rimet Cup - but instead the "FIFA World Cup Trophy" that was not introduced until almost a quarter century later, in 1974 - the Jules Rimet Cup had most definitely been in use, and awarded to the winners, since the very first World Cup in 1930. This is not an obscure point in World Cup history, and Tifo Football's botching of such an elementary fact seems incomprehensible. The only extenuation I can see for the statement - and it would be clutching at a pretty thin reed - is that when the trophy was introduced in 1930, it was originally named "Victory", although it was most commonly referred to simply as the "World Cup", or "Coupe du Monde". It was not until 1946 that FIFA renamed it the "Jules Rimet Cup" (or "Jules Rimet Trophy") to honor the organization's president, and the father of the World Cup tournament. So, in one •narrow• sense, yes, 1950 was the first World Cup at which the winners received the "Jules Rimet Cup". But the fact is that •that• trophy, whatever name it had been going by at the time, had been the very trophy presented to the winners in 1930, 1934, and 1938, too.
