To everyone Dont try to fuse weld Aluminium without Filler Rod. That weld will fail any AWS Testing Period. The purpose of Pulse welding Isn't to cover up an incompetent welder by making the weld cosmetically look good Period. Pulse welding main use is To control penetration in thin metal And to help minimize distortion. It's also very useful in automation welding to control the weld width, shape and penetration.

I wonder why american/European machines are different in some things. We don't have the pps thing, we have to dial the on/off time in 10ths of a second and amps for both. Sometimes the second pulse amps is a percentage of the first pulse amps. Is this a thing in the US?

But seriously if you used something like the 6061 finger push button TIG amp controller, might that work? There are cheaper fingertip amp controllers but that one gets high marks. That said, I am not advocating for manual pulse. My impression of TIG welding is that the welder needs all the concentration he/she can muster; dancing on the pedal does not fit in.
