I was graduating high school when Tiger Woods first won at Augusta. I remember being at work and finding out about his fall from grace in 2009. 10 years of horrible mistakes, personal issues, mental issues, character issues. To see him SOMEHOW PERSIST, introspect, change and become is really beyond words. For his children to see their father overcome and excel at his very calling in life; as a father myself that is tremendously inspiring. All of us are leaders, if not in family, community or the workplace, then at least in our own lives. And the persistence to overcome and compete against one’s own limitations and expectations, one’s own inner demons, to set an example in not just results, but character - that is what is so inspiring about this Tiger Woods and this victory.

Very well said and I love your statement.. i'm not sure I would include 'mental issues' among his adversity. Unless it is in the broad sense as humans we have mental battles, they don't come more mentally tough than Tiger as evidenced by your larger point that I totally agree with.

Beyond words. The Mozart and Beethoven of the remarkable game of golf. Singleness of purpose. Very simply to win. Profound discipline in order to accomplish ones objective. Yet truely decent and loving person that goes the extra mile. Not just on the golf course but also someone that has a family and people that love and care.

Just remember, Tiger himself told people at the 2017 Master's Champions Dinner that "I'm done, my back is done." So that's the information they had to work with. It's not like they were rooting for him to fail, they just saw him in pain and didn't want him to play that way. For awhile there even Tiger didn't see light at the end of the tunnel.

These were two different events, two different sets of circumstances. Jack's victory came out of nowhere with an incredible back 9. Tiger's has been a long time coming after his body broke down so badly that it seemed that he would never come back. Jack was over the hill. Tiger wasn't even on the hill. Both were amazing.
