I almost died in a similar way when I was 14. I was eating a chewy steak that I had cooked, and drinking a milkshake. Which is a recipe for disaster in the way it got stuck in my throat, you can use your imagination. Luckily my dad was in the house (though he was about to walk outside and leave, so I was almost alone), because he saved my life. It wasn't casual choking either, it was a real problem and I was blacking out, I almost died for real, and I should probably thank him for that again. That would have been a fucking lame way to die.

This is why everyone needs to be prepared and know what to say to 911. I've had to call a few times for my mom, who has Parkinson's and used to live with us, you have to be prepared for address first (usually), but I know when you are panicked it is hard, but all families should go over what to say.

My ex almost died from orange chicken. When he was choking I thought he was playing it up at first because we were just joking around and laughing. Then he stumbled off the bed and his face turned blue drooling everywhere. I hopped up and performed the Heimlich maneuver as hard as I could which luckily worked. He couldn’t remember anything. Knowing if I wasn’t there, he could have died really freaked me out and made me more protective of him. So I get where khalyla is coming from of watching her mom sleeping afterwards.
