I remember when I first learned about the ice age floods, and the creation of the Scabland. My sis and I had just moved to WA (17, 16 yo respectively). We've always loved Geology, so my sister didn't waste much time looking up the geology of the PNW (we'd just moved there from Southern Mississippi which is geologically BORING!). She exclaimed to me, "Did you know there was this MASSIVE FLOOD that washed from Montana to the Pacific Ocean?! And it took along a huge chunk of eastern Washington's topsoil with it!" Those events and the Columbia River Basalts fascinated her. (Sorry so long!)
