I have enjoyed many of your interviews, PBD, but please know Tim Donaghy lied to you and your audience. You correctly promote the import of ethics and trust in business, and I was thus expecting an evidence-based discourse on the scandal. You wouldn't tolerate this in any of your employees or deal with others who were so blatantly dishonest.

Of course the NBA isn't gonna hire Donaghy. Unlike the SEC and the FBI examples, the shady stuff going on in the NBA directly benefits them and is a result their own directive. Also, I agree with Patrick, I'm sure the NBA did everything in it's power to ensure Donaghy wasn't charged with fixing. As brilliant as Stern was, he was just as devious.

Fans think that the introduction of technology to help clarify referee decisions is hurting their experience and lowering the entertainment value of the sport. The truth is with video replays being accessible the referees have less opportunities and excuses for swaying the outcome of the game. We want the participants to dictate the the outcomes of contests not the officials.

It's pretty obvious. Most times that a player takes too many steps is when an exciting play is developing. A good example is a breakaway dunk or driving through traffic. To call travels during these moments takes away from the excitement. Much like if they were to blow the whistle every time someone carried the ball, which is every single dribble according to the rules. Since the NBA is a money grabbing organization, they won't take away from the fans excitement.

Haven't watched NBA in over a decade because the game is rigged obviously and this guy only validated what I strongly suspected. Gambling? That angle I didn't expect, but seems like biggest TV Market City Team always wins in clutch games by referee's whistles, free throws, fouls/ nonfouls, ... it's like watching the WWE, knowing the outcome.

This is so fucking disturbing. The one game that really comes to mind where i truly deep down know that the refs had input on the game was the national championship game with Wisconsin and duke. That game has been broken down by many different people and its been proven that calls in the 2nd half of that game were tilted in a major way in dukes favor. And after listening to this I have no doubts that went on. Very very sad

One of your best interviews. Here I thought all along this guy was a crook for betting on the games. The fake media had me believing that. If he was honest here, he simply like to gamble and that led him to the wrong people because of his status. Not forgettable but certainly forgivable. Thanks Pat, keep em coming.

@rei12figuresbusiness41 5 жыл бұрын
The referees ability to break down the game and process information the way hedge fund companies do. The evil side of me wants to use that kind of knowledge to make millions gambling. 😈😂 But from a business perspective, as well as an athletic team, one could have a great advantage if they simply played a particular game based off the consistency of the referees. As a business man, I’m considering making decisions with that perspective in mind 🤔
