Tim McCarver, an All-Star catcher, World Series champion, and famed television analyst died on February 16 at the age of 81.
Over the course of 60 years in baseball, McCarver won two World Series, called more World Series games for television than any on-air talent in history, and left an indelible mark on the game he loved. McCarver's death was announced by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
McCarver spent three decades as baseball’s premier television analyst, the only MLB analyst to have worked for all four major broadcast networks. He also served as an analyst for 28 consecutive MLB postseasons, including 23 World Series and 20 All-Star Games. During his career, he became known for prescient insights into the game and was a role model for ex-players looking to fold into a broadcast telecast.
McCarver was also a Class of 2016 inductee into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame. This tribute video is from that induction ceremony.

Tim was the greatest. I watched him do the 1986 Mets live on TV when I was a kid. It was so exciting. Wait a minuite. I was 28 in 1986. Oh well...Nobody seemed to have as much fun broadcasting a baseball game as Tim McCarver. And maybe Joe Garagiola, when I WAS a kid. frankny65yroldwhitekid

Deion Sanders, if he had some class, should man up and pay tribute and respect to this good man, great baseball broadcaster, and solid catcher. Another great that can never be replaced. RIP Tim McCarver. 🇺🇸⚾️

@@pierlouis7325 deion wasn't required to play baseball after July 31, his first priority was always football. He was always much better at football. If your good at baseball you don't need much practice, football practice is much more important. The only reason deion played baseball was his position at football was one of paid at that time. He was pretty good during the world series hitting.544

McCarver talked shit behind deions back, deion confronted him face to face and threw ice water on him. pussys talk behind your back. Deions baseball contract was only till July 31. he didn't have to play baseball, management asked him to play. if deion was selfish as people said he would of said no.

He was on the Phillies inthe 1980, Phillies world series team, and he was also on the Philadelphia tv broadcasting post game show that went on a While. He was broadcasting when he was still in uniform. I think that's where he got the taste of broadcasting. He did really well with Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn. He said that him and Steve Carlton would be buried 60 feet and 6 inches away from each other. They won a world series in stl together in 1969, then they both get traded to Philly and start in 72 bad, but Carlton goes like 27-3 on a 53 win team. They call up Schmidt trade for rose and win a world series in Philly together. Rip I will miss the insight. Only true baseball fans can understand the little things you said. As in all sports

I love how dumb-as-dirt Yankee fans blamed McCarver for the 2001 World Series loss. 😂
